Building A Simple Trunk Wall help! pleaaase!

Hey guys.. I have searched this site and im sure its on here I just cant find it! I have been installing amps and subs for a while now.. However I just want to bump it up a knotch. Not go too crazy. So in my sisters tsx I installed an amp and 2 jl 10's. I built a box and added carpet. However what I want to do is push the box as far back as it goes, secure it, then build a wall in the trunk with 2 10" holes in it so it appears as if the subs are flush mounted into the trunk. I was going to use a nail gun and put maybe a couple nails from the carpet of the wall directly into the box and cover it up and secure it from the back as well. Maybe even raised lettering in the wall with an ACURA sign. My question... What type of wood do I use? Im assuming not mdf to make a wall... How to I measure it to make the wall flush? Any tips, advice.. links?? Thanks guys!!

Here is mine that I did, do you mean something similiar to this? if so that baffle board (cover piece) is a .25'' thick board. I believe it is cedar wood but it is sold at both Home depot and lowes. it comes in like a 4x5 board. I took cardboard and got all the curves of the trunk and transfered it to the wood. I put the cover piece over the box and then put the subs in. Then I put the screws into the sub that went through the cover board and into the mdf box which held everything together. Why not use mdf? Use whatever works man, it's just aesthetics. To get the shape of the cutout you can put the box in the trunk where you want it to be then screw a scrap board to the front of it big enough to staple cardboard to. Then staple pieces of cardboard on the board filling in the gaps around the trunk until you've got it fitted to the trunk, then unscrew the board with the cardboard and plop it down on a piece of wood, trace it, and cut it out. This is how I make all my form fitted, cutout's, works like a charm.

He can use MDF, but there is no point. he just needs a .25'' sheet. Plus he needs something somewhat flexable to get in and out of the trunk. The thinnest I have seen mdf is 1/2 which won't really bend. the .25 cuts like better when you have it traced out

Yea.. that was my only concern really... When I cut it out, what if i cant fit it in my trunk.. lol I will probably start working on it this weekend.
Nexson, How did you do the boarder around your amp cut outs... They look nice! Also does anyone know if there is a link on here for raised lettering in carpet? Cant seem to find one... Thanks a lot guys!!

The sub wall can be made out of anything, I used MDF leftover from building the box. Here's one I did on my old Galant:

From this view, the wall looks perfectly flat.

But it is hiding a secret compartment. This hinge allows the whole piece to be put in the trunk. I just sunk the hinges into the wood so that everything was flush, and then carpetted the wall.

Close up of the logo cut out. This was really hard to do, and took the most patience and time.

Then, I added the amp and cap to the board.
Without that hinge, the board would be too big to fit in, but when folded, it fit fine. I had a little space between the sub box and the wall though so that I could put the Mitsubishi Logo on the wall as a custom sub grille. If I didn't do the logo like that, I would have made it flush with the box. It might be cool to do the Acura logo like this for your sister's box. To keep it from moving, I had two brackets that had to be accessed from the seats when they were folded down, so everything was pretty theft resistant.

To do the raised lettering, you would just need to get some thin (.125" or so) board, cut to shape, and then glue the letters to the board before you carpet. Most carpet is strechy enough to get into all the crevices in the lettering, just make sure there's enough good coverage with the spray adhesive.

edit: oh, and I redid the trunk floor with a hinge just in front of the wall so i could still access my spare.

Go to home depot or lowes and go to the wood section, they have the long pieces of narrow wood boardering that they use on the walls. I took a piece that was contoured nicely and just cut it up and put plexi behind the squares.

So behind the wall there is a box or not....and what if I built the wall and the two sides shad left the rear wall open...and let the seats act as the rear wall.....would that act as a good box.
