    bezel cracking, need alternative solution

Goal: fit a 809gl, 8in Lilliput, into the mk4 radio cage!

I have pictures of pretty much each step, but they aren't exactly in order.

    http://tehbrosta.com/carpc/index.php?album=carpc

    What I have done:
    1) cut 809gl bezel down to fit into radio cage
    2) epoxy in place
    3) fill gaps & make smooth with bondo
    4) paint

    Results:

This would be the 3rd or 4th time it has cracked. What I have done to fix the crack is open it up with the dermal, epoxy, bondo, and paint. What would you guys suggest? Fiberglass overlay? Maybe a different plastic weld?

thats a clean cut..which means u didnt use enough epoxy or you didnt rough up the surfaces enough for the epoxy to bond sand away all of the bondo and paint ... then rough sand the bezel... wipe clean... allow to dry.. then reapply epoxy in an even manner. I would personally NOT recomend bondo as it cracks easier than some of the other products out there

When I epoxied it, I did rough it up but obviously it wasn't enough. I'm afraid there isn't enough surface area to grab. That's why its cracking. What other kind of products would you recommend instead of bondo for the finish?

Duramix and Evercoat are among the best i've worked with. Bondo always gets too brittle for me

I looked up duramix and I found a whole bunch of products! Which one? For example, I found several like this on google:

i've personally used the 4040. You can search for what others are using by simply searching term "duramix"

I ordered some "Duramix 4247 Super Fast Plastic Tab Repair Adhesive," I figured this would work best since there is very little surface area. We will see! Cant wait to get this thing finally done.

Definitely don't use bondo to fill in cracks. It should only be used to fill in imperfections.

I used epoxy to weld the pieces together. But it was the epoxy that failed, not the bondo.
