Hey Guys,
This fabrication is for HiJackZX1 and his Dodge Durango. Unfortunately things did not go well with the first attempt so he sent it on over to me. Things were in good enough shape that I could rip everything down and start from new.
I started by prying up the putty, which wasn't that hard since it doesn't adhere to plastic that well. Once that was done, I was able to grind and sand it down. From here I was ready to do it Nexations Creations style.
The job consists of making a outline/casing of the Lilliput Monitor to host the Lilliput screen. The screen fits snug into the frame and is secured by 2 screws which were previously made by the owner. Also a small vent will be molded in which is located under the speedometer visor. Once everything is spot textured, the whole dash will get a nice coat of black vinyl/plastic paint to match the new modifications and assist to blend them in.
The following pictures show the progress thus far. Keep in mind that the dash will be all painted one color to match. Where the Screen Mold is, there is a different texture which I was able to pull off because it is in a sectioned off area.
Enjoy & Stay Tuned!!

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

I agree, I am so horribly impressed. I'm kinda ****ed that i added all that cr@p to it, and none of it worked out. I am glad the mounting system i did worked out.I am so curious on the vent though and how well it will turn out. What color are you going to paint the Lilliput Bezel, please make it gloss black, if you need a picture of the A/C controls i will post a picture. The back of the screen can stay the same, you cant see that, lol.

Don't worry about the putty. it was in the best inerest for the project for it to come off because underneath it, it was not adhering properly. It is all good though!
As for the vent. I plan on making a small square bezel and molding in each side into the already cut out square. From there I will have the fins sit behind the square bezel. It will work out great.
For the Bezel, I will paint it glossy black for you.

nice work
and good detailed pictures like mine
gives ppl good info
goodluck with the rest
Nexson i had a quick question.... When you repaint everything, all the A/C vents and stuff come off right? I also wanted to point out that the 2 little bins that are below the A/C vents next to the screen, those come off. They are held in place by screws. I dont think you have to repaint the back, but if you do there is foam that creates a seal for the A/C ducts and I have screws in the A/C control holes and light switch area so I wouldnt loose them.

UPDATE
Pretty much finished up the dash. I still need to load up the paint gun and shoot the Lilliput bezel gloss black.
As for the vent, I blocked off a square and just molded it in for a seamless finish. I blended the new texture with the original. After that spot was completed, I prepped the dash and painted it all Satin black to match all modifications
Enjoy!
Almost done!
