I would go thicker just to have a good glueing (is that how you spell it?) surface on edge.
can anybody help me ive got my m2 atx psu today and a mate of mine said hes got some 2mm thick perspex/plexiglass i can have and he will cut it to shape for my case. is 2mm going to be thick enough and strong enough to make a case with or will i need thicker stuff?

2mm will be way too thin.
5mm is what you need.
I have made custom PC cases in plexi/lexan, and 5mm is the thinest you can go.
Gluing plexi/lexan is possible with a welding torch, but you need to find the right temperature. To hot, and everything close by melts, to cold.. and you'll end up with a case that falls apart sooner or later.
I have allways been using rivets or screws.
The cool thing about lexan though, is that you can bend and twist it fairly easy when its heated up a bit
Oh.. btw:
If the whole thing about plexi is for having a "show case"... I would recomend you building one in wood first.. So that you can lay out the design, and find all the flaws with it in the wooden version. This way, when you build the one i plexi.... It's "flawless"![]()
cheers for the input just phoned my mate and told him 2mm would be to thin and asked if he has any more. April the 1st is my lucky day as he has got 5mm thick green and red tinted perspex so im going to get him to cut me the following sizes in both colours
210mm x 297mm X2
210mm x 100mm X2
287mm x 100mm X2
also as he works for a stainless steel fabrication company im goin to get him to make a rack to bolt it to the floor either under the passenger seat or in the boot

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

you have got a point there i will get him to make one and on the plus side it wouldnt cost me a penny. was thinking all stainless steel housing and for the top have sum sort of emblem cut into the top of it. i would normaly have the honda logo done but im not sure if im going to be keeping the car. i have vw in my blood as i had a vw polo mk4 as my first car so im either looking at a vw passat estate or a mk4 golf with the bora front end (bolf) lol
