    Talking 2006 Maxima Carputer Mold-In, N-C *Worklog*

Here is a Maxima Bezel I did for a member here

I molded in the bezel into the Metra kit for this car. We did the best we could on the color match. In the final few pictures you will see basecoat, then clearcoat. I toyed around with the basecoat and clearcoat for a long time. The original factory finish is sort of a brushed aluminum. In the end I did a little wetsanding and buffing to try to get it as close as it is going to get. It came out pretty clean. Don't mind the loose screen. It is a junk screen I have laying around, for test fits, etc.

Lookin' good. I see they haven't changed that bezel much from the 2004 I have.

Still the same bezel, that is good though, easy to work with. The only thing is that the sides are not equal widths.

I like the color too. Looks similar to the color I just finished mine in.
I used Rustoleum Universal Advanced formula "Titanium Silver". It's a really neat paint finish by itself, but a little too flashy for inside the car. After a few coats of that and letting it cure, I covered it with 2 coats of Matte finish which gave it a nice aluminum look.

I originally had my screen in that lower location, but the glare was horrible at that angle and I didn't like the fact that I had to look down away from the road for navigation (or anything else for that matter). So I swapped screen locations and moved the factory screen to the lower position and moved the carpc to the top. I also added an overhang to the factory top bezel to help shade the screen.

I'm just amazed that they haven't changed that bezel much at all from the 2004...
Did you make this for someone else or is it for your own?

Wow, yours looks great as well. The paint really came out nice.

The bezel would not change much as usually cars dont change style (generations) until every 4-5 years. This was actually for a member on the forum.

Thanks The old dash finish was in a brushed stainless steel, but I like this much better.

As for the change in design, I must admit it's been a *very* long and stressful week and it's made me retarded.... I took the 2006 to be 2009.

I think he reworked everything once more before he sent it out to me.
