What is the price through your guy?
Meh. So I emailed him and no response. Anyway I have a direct source for these mirrors if anyone wants any.
Guess I'll proceed along with my mod-install.![]()

What is the price through your guy?
I did this in my M6, special glass and no etching.

Do you have info. about how to start a project like this. Like info. about the glass since you did no etching etc. How easy is it to open the mirror? Is it a Gentex mirror in your car?
Sorry for the questions, but I guess this is what we're trying to figure out.
Oh, and welcome!![]()
I've done a lot of these for friends and every mirror is different, some are easy to open and others aren't. I've ruined a lot of them figuring out how they open - you can usually find a replacement on ebay unless it's a brand new model car. I used the factory mirror that came in the car, just replaced the glass. I can source the glass for you but need a template to have it fabricated. The glass is cut out of a $500 piece of commercial glass and a special coating has to be applied to the back of the mirror around the display. Also in order for the display to illuminate properly through the glass and in order to make sure you don't inadvertantly mess up something in the factory mirror there's usually a lot of soldering and desoldering tiny circuits. Unfortunately this is not a very simple mod, let me know what kind of car you own and I'll be happy to try to help if I can.![]()
I've made several of these but not "behind" the mirroring, more inset like this:
This one is a Porsche mirror but the process works the same way on most mirrors as long as there is room inside for the circuit board.
