Sounds great. Here are another status report :-)

With the help of spice I have found out what change I need to do to prevent oscillation. No strap, just changing 2 resistors from 10k to 1k. Spice saved me a lot of soldering and trials, and possible damage to components as my first idees only made it worse! Now it is just to verify it in the real world..

My panel is done (not of any interest to this thread)

And this is how I disabled the BM motor driver (not of any interest to this thread either)

B-O that's some great news! let's see how real world testing
i must apologize!!! i didn't send out your piece yet.. I promise I'll do it soon

I'm having major issues with my screen: during the accident, the screen was in an "open" position but the face plate was not secured fully as I have the power wire in the way still...so as I was hit in the back, the screen flew out but I was able to catch it so it didn't get scratched or broken. However the flex cable was pulled out and that caused damage to the connection..I am bringing it to a local electronics repair shop to see if they can solder the cable or put a new connection in place....otherwise I'll need to order a new screen.

    updates?

The weekend was lost due to "allhelgona" with my parents. (More "candles on the graves" than "maskerade")

I have completed the first pcb though. All electronics in place. I will test wednesday.

Sorry to hear about your screen. Unless the copper pattern was broken I think you will be able to repair it. Fingers crossed.

AWESOME!!! let me know how testing goes

A friend of mine actually fixed the screen using blue painters tape - I will secure it a little better and take some pictures to show.

I finally mounted my dvd drive..

    Status

    Stunning!
I am amazed that you managed to fit the DVD without modifying the mouth piece! Great pics. Great job.

I have had some problems during test. First there was a short inside an op amp!!! Could be Digikey has sent me the wrong part. Would not be a first. Nightmare to locate where the short was...

Second I still have problems with motor drive, so no video yet. I will have to add 2 transistors and 2 resistors... Next news will be this weekend.

    Edit:
Not to blame digikey. I ordered tlv2711 and not tlv271....

    Edit 2:
Motor drive is now working, and so is jamdetection and the endposition sensors. I am working on code now, and the door driver is 90% complete. I will add code to supervise door movement.
I do have some problems with the analogue switch that is supposed to "press" the DVD eject button when door is completely open. Don't know why, but I cannot get it to switch on... It is a DG411. Well. I'll sort it out :-)

One more thing. The mod I did on the motordrive might look a bit...low quality. I assure you it is no problem with the way I've done the mod, but I still want to give you this option: I can order new pcb's with soldering mask and this mod in the pattern, but I will have to charge you for it. A single pcb is probably about 100US.

I am usually pretty peculiar about quality of work, but as long as it works and its not an eye sore (I cannot see it) - its all good

Great work B-O! Keep it up. I finally got my car back together, after disassembling "half" the motor. I still have some missfire issue, but I am pretty sure its my mass air meter. I'll pick another one this week and will finally resume the pc project.

By the way, I picked up the 3D conexxion space navigator and using this driver: http://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=336 I will be using it as a basic mouse. I really like it!

Great. I am glad you have some real work to do on the car too :-)

The 3D space navigator is nice. I have seen some nice moldings of it on the forum. I can just not find a use for one myself :-(

btw. I will embedd the mod in hot glue.

    Hot glue will work
I'm sorry if I missed something, but what do you use for "navigation" or mouse?

Only the buttons on the Bordmonitor, MODE for instance is <shift><alt><tab> to select application.
And I use my phone as remote control.
And when not sufficient I have my logitech noevo keyboard :-)

I remember now reading about your cell phone as a remote! NEAT!
MODE for switching apps is awesome! is there a way you can write that into the new pcb for me?
