    Hia folks...

I've been a bit side tracked lately with tonnes of work at the office, kids, and private stuff.

Though side tracked. I've been looking more and more into windows mobile 7, and I truly thing this is the best OS for a new type CarPC. (as in hardware).
I have not been able to try out with GPS and USB Radio yet, but I cannot see why this should not work.

Kraimer. How is your USB frontpanel going? Did you find the source for the slow down?

I ordered a new Intel X25-M SSD today. I'm curious on how fast I can make boot times on my Zotac ION board. The X25 typed SSD is apparently one of the fastest available SSD technology at an comfortable price.

Seems like most of us have a life on the side, myself excluded :-)

Kraimer should have his pcb any day now, maybe today. It will be fun to see how it works out.

I have been sidetracked to a project with a german guy that want to build a button to ibus interface. With this pcb the electronics of the BM (except for the small button pcb's themselves) can be ripped out. This gives more space in BM as well as in door which is a requirement to be able to convert E39 BM. For me, it is also a great way to reduce current consumption in BM, and also to get total control of the buttons. The BM will shut them down when ignition is off, which is painful. So I plan to use this in my own BM too. (and yours Crinos)

First out... NICE PICTURES Deep Grey!

Bes: I've been following your project with Art on HackTheIbus, not the best commentator there, but I've atleast read the posts (I have the Yahoo acount to forward to my office e-mail).

More space in BM is always good. Even when one don't need it. More space = more air. More air = less chance for heat buildups during intense heat from direct exposure to the Sun.

Better control is never bad either

    Agree on all points, Crinos!

I have gone all the way replacing more and more of the BM electronics, and the buttons is the last thing. Argument for this is all what you say, + it is also good that even BM's with broken electronics can be used for conversion. Even though I have not seen any BM's like that for sale. Are they just scraped? Maybe I should contact BMW and say that I am interested in units like that. I know that they do not repair them.

For the Art project I think I will acctually do it myself, only using his input from his own tests. As I have both E39 and E46 monitor, and I prefer to be able to change code myself and reuse everything I have done and tested allready. So I will use the 8051 and not Art's Atmel32.

There is also a danish guy in our group soon. I will build him a GPS module.

What about your progress, Kraimer and Grey?

I have seen from time to time, broken down BMs for sale here in Norway. The BMWCCN site have a for sale section, and there I've seen some BMs. But I think they have been operational.
I will keep a look out for them

Thanks Crinos, it is keeping me far too busy at the moment! I want to just sit down for a day to put my CarPC in, but every day we get more work. I suppose I can't complain heh.

Dexamenus, I am planning on uploading a video of it in action at some point soon.. obviously the above statement to Crinos is what is stopping me :/
