    Mine isn't empty!
I just went and checked and it has some stuff in there - on the top it has a cap saying "brake fluid"
So I guess I have to put the CarPC under the seat :/

No space reserved under the hood for a battery??!! Very strange indeed...

Well it has the same space there - I can see the red battery cable in there - it just has a few other things in it - I assume you guys have a different place to put your brake fluid?

Been quiet lately..sorry guys. That spot in the engine bay was used for ABS hardware in older models. I thought of using that space as well for placing the PC, but I keep a bottle of oil and a rag in that spot; the rag gets soaking wet during rainy days...
B-O, Lilliput does have the "rearview camera" in, I'm just not using them since I don't have one yet.

If you guys remember, I placed mine under the passenger seat mounting in the BMW's optional First Aid kit box:

little blue bag is NOT mine
This location, to me, seems ideal as it was close enough to the screen (no need to extend the VGA cable) and close enough to the trunk (you guys call it the boot) for my amp and such. Also because this box was designed to be mounted onto the seat, it is not at all affected by the seat adjustments.

You have a pink one ;-)

With "rearview in" lacking I mean the control signal. It does have the composite input, but it is switched in automatically when signal is present. Not by control signal on separate lead.

I think separate lead is better as the camera can be warmed up in advance.

My first aid box is... well filled with first aid stuff. Do not think it will fit under my seat though.

At first my thoughts where to mount the PC where my spare tire is in the trunk, then the amps on top of that, and then four small subs for in the "floor" of the trunk.

Now I will try to hide the subs where the original sub and navi unit should be, PC under the hood, and still mount the four subs in the compartment under the "trunk floor". Quite spaceious... (See attachment).

My brake fluids is just ahead of the servo fluid. Never seen that the brake fluid have had a resovoir on the right side of the car. (on left wheeled ones).

Regarding the "cargo hold" under the hood. I've allso been using this for some soft cloth, polish and so on. Will try to build a metal box to mount there. Going to take a round downtown to see if any companies can make me a 3D scan, so I can work with a revers CAD model. If not, it first will be a paper model, then metal

Mine is an E46 facelift. (The facelift models came from mid 2002 i think it was).
But as I know it, all E46 besides the compact have the spare on the inside.
My E36 Compact had the spare on the outside and dropped down like yours. Same did my Z3. (Basically a E36 the Z3. I think the proper designator where E36/7 or something. Can't rembember wich where wich. Think roadster where 7 and Coupe where 8).

Mine is a pre-facelift and my spare is on the inside too.

hmm the fist aid box may be ok - will have to see if my PC actually fits there though.
I can just put the first aid kit in the boot.. I have never actually used it - but you never know haha.
