Need ideas on how to accomplish getting a screen fabbed into my bezel please..

One off topic question.. We are having another child so the car seats will be on the outside (currently have one child and carseat is in the middle).. That means they won't be able to see the screen as they are not in the center..

I was thinking of getting headrest monitors or a dropdown monitor but wasn't sure how exactly that would work in a carpc environment.. It would be awesome if I could have GPS on the main screen and their movies on the other screen(s).. Has anyone done this? I searched for "Multiple Monitors" but didn't find many hits..

The way it works is that you have to buy a remote in order to navigate the center flip down. I did try to add a touch screen, but the weight was to much so I went with this:

It has a mouse, left and right buttons built in. I also went to the extreme and decided to go with headrest touch screens for the second row and two more EBY701 for the rear, mounted in the pillars. Now when shopping you have to make sure the screen is VGA compatible, anything else will look like pure $h!+. I suggest this, it may be to big for you, but if you shop their store, you'll find smaller ones.

I like Eonon products, I had their 15 inch VGA screen, but I do not see it in their store anymore. I broke mine though trying to add a touchscreen, so now I am upgrading to 19.

So I can't control the drop down from the front? My 3 1/2 year old and newborn won't be able to navigate the drop down via the remote so I don't think that would work..

How hard was it to install the drop down? Did you have to cut through your headliner? I installed a drop down unit (stand alone DVD) in our old car and it was a major PITA.. I removed the entire headliner and glued a piece of plywood to the roof for the unit to screw into.. Needless to say it wasn't easy and I wasn't terribly happy w/ the results..

that looks to be the same frame that is sold over at bybyte.com. it works great for me-- my biggest issue was that it was about a 1/8" taller than my dash opening, so i had to dremel some of the dash bezel to get everything to fit properly-- on my car, my hvac and radio share a opening, so it is possible that that the hvac controls might be slightly bigger than they should. so far i have not seen any fitment issues similar to mine anywhere else, so i am assuming that it is something to do with my install.

not really hackable, but might rate higher on the WPA(Wife Performance Approval) scale-- because it will be easier to use-and easier to route a dvd to the back seats-- the problems with navi units like this though is that the gps routing engines can sometimes be flakey, so you might still need a external gps unit to get reliable routing...

Yes of course you can. That all depends on the front end you use and what not. I keep forgetting that not everyone wants separate control like I do.

Installing the screen is a big mess. I had to take my headliner out also, then I used Aircraft grade epoxy that leaves this horrible smell for almost a month. What sucks is that the 15 inch mounting plate is permanently stuck up there. I am hoping I can mount the new 19 inch mount plate to that.

Sigh... I was hoping you wouldn't say that... I know what a big PITA it is because I did it in my wife's old car and I don't know if I want to do it again on this one... Frack me...

Maybe I'll go with headrest monitors?

I see a BattleStar Galactica fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.... You know though, your car doesnt have three rows of seats like mine, that was my only reason for having the flip down. You could be alot more creative then me and install a screen at the rear of the front center console. That way there is a screen for each person in the back. left, middle and right.

A screen at the rear of the center console? Wouldn't that be super low though? I don't want TOO many screens.. The drop down would be nice because it would be just ONE more to buy / install but the install is too hard...

The headrest monitors I'm just worried they wouldn't match at all (the ones I linked in my last post)..
