Need ideas on how to accomplish getting a screen fabbed into my bezel please..

Yea it would be kind of low. I will say this, either way, whether you go with flip down or the headrest screens, its still going to be equally as b!+chy. I do not even have the actual screens, but to run the cables for both screens, I had to remove the seats. Then fish the wire under the carpet to the locations. If I had to compare the headrest to the roof, id say the roof was easier.

On my first install of the screen, I simply cut a hole to the size of the mounting plate, then rather then take out the roof, I simply dropped it down a bit. It was a pain to work around, but it did work. The cable was easy to run. Ran from the PC location up one of the side pillars and I was done.

I just remember trying to get the thing "square".. It was damn near impossible.. You can't use a freaking square or level because the headliner isn't flat!

How bad do you think the monitors (headrest or dropdown) would look that aren't VGA (just RCA) for just video?

Also, what front end do you use? I currently use RR in my truck but I just have the one screen.. I want to be able to have GPS on the main screen and movies on the other screen(s). Is that a function of the front end?

The 08 Dakota have the same size radio opening as the Nitro's.

Video will look OK, but anything from the PC, like font and what not, will be unreadable, and if it is readable, it will look like $h!+.

That opening is exactly the same as your Nitro, because Dodge uses the same headunits. Buy exactly what ever he bought. I forgot all about his thread!

Ok.... My next issue...

I just have the factory system (no amp or upgraded speakers).. If this was my car I would upgrade the sound system (add woofer, amp, and better speakers) but, it's my wife's, and she could care less / don't want that.. So, being that it will have no amp and no head unit, how will I get audio?

You have to have a AMP. now remember though, an AMP doesnt have to equal LOUD, BOOM, BOOM. Just buy an amp within your needs that will work with the factory speakers. Try one of these, it is very small and can be hidden. I used 5 of these, but since I am upgrading all audio, I got rid of most of them. They worked great, still more powerful then my factory speakers, just dont try to blast music!

Basically the PC doesnt have enough power to push loud or even OK sound. There has to be a AMP to boost the signal.

Damn, prices keep adding up!!! So now I'll have to friggin run all new wires to all the speakers.. Dayum...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, my bad, I should explain better. I bought the 2 channel version, at the time they didnt have ones that small in 4 channel. So I had to buy one for front, middle, rear, center, phone and sub. You would only need one 4 channel.

Motherboard, HDD, and CPU I should have laying around.. I'll need to get a PSU (undecided) and depending where I install the PC some type of case.. My other two installs were in trucks where I had to make a case to fit in consoles.. Being that this vehicle has the whole back area for storage I can probably just mount it somewhere back there..

and with a amp that size, you might be able to locate it close enough to the factory harness that you could tie into it--car audio shops have a 'factory amp relocation kit' that would have enough wire to run from the factory harness in the dash to under one of the seats--of course, you could always just run regualr speaker wire for this too-- so you might need to run maybe 4-6 feet asuming that you mount the amp under the seat, or maybe in the center console, depending on space...
