I like the idea, the only thing that deters me is knowing I will replace my phone almost every year. Far sooner than I plan to get rid of my ride. And knowing Apple, their next gen design will not fit. I think if i were to tackle this I would make the dock part a removable component that can be changed for my next device.

Great job for the first try however! I would recommend blocking or redirecting the left vent to the right - you don't want hot air blowing on your iphone.

    Thx for the compliments

I actually did duct tape the left side and redirect all air to the right vent so there's no air hitting the back of the dock!

    Cool, thx for the input.

Do you mean a gap on the bottom right corner of iPhone or all on the right side?

Yes, in the summer thats definitely going to crack. With large molding jobs like that you really have to go fiberglass.

How come? I thought the epoxy putty would withstand as it's not body filler. I got idea from nexson who has used this method without issue.

I thought about that and took the risk that apple may make the 4g a new shape and since I am rough on my device and work for a Canadian wireless carrier, I will definitely be getting the new iPhone the week it comes out.

    So I have 3 scenarious...

    1. They leave the shape and connector alone, and it's all good In da hood!
    2. They leave shape and change dock, may be ok as I have left the connector part at the bottom of the dock removable, so I could easily retro fit a new dock connector.
    3. They change the shape and I get to redo the entire thing with all that I've learned and do an even better job. Hey, there's no point in drinking a half empty glass, when the half full is always an option!

Since your not satisfied with the finish results and will resand the bezel. Take some time to align everything You could haved used some small wood pieces to shape the frame and that way it would have been straight !!

But hey, our first bezel can't be perfect. I just did my second one and it took me 3 days versus 2 month for my first bezel

Check for some flat black Engine Paint, it gives a nice finish. Don't forget to sand between coats with some 1000 or higher I just discovered wet sand...if your patient and care for details. Wet sand can really give you a good finish

Check on the web or in nexson threads there's a lot of info on sanding !!!

Anyway GOOD JOB on the first bezel bro!

    thx for the kind words!

I will definietly sanding down using some filler and taking more time on sanding as per some great detailed instructions that nexson has provided.

As for the straightness, short of cutting out the dock and completely stating ove it may be too late since the actual glued on dock is slightly crooked and the dock determines the direction of iPhone. I was planing on straightening out the edges to appear not straight but at the end of the day the actual dock points slightly to the left.
