    Thank you DarkSlateBlue!

almost ready for base coat and haven't decided to stick with trim black (almost flat) or go with a true flat black or a textured paint in a spray can. Any ideas?

Also not sure if I should spray clear after the base, since I don't want a glossy or even satin finish, but obviously don't want my hard work being scratched up in a month either. what you guys think?

Hey you can always go w/the carbon fiber look!
There is a ton of how to on youtube on how to put "vinyl" carbon fiber (ebay). It's like $8 with shipping for a piece just about that size and all you need is a hair dryer.
I'm going to do that myself for my bezel as soon as I can get this bondo glass to dry up. weather has been nutz in phoenix and hasn't dried completely.
I'm on nitroforumz working on my nitro-puter.
    Current Project:

Here are a couple pix of the vinyl carbon fiber I purchased on ebay
I have not installed yet because I'm still waiting for the bezel to dry.
I had to make the opening for an 8.9" touchscreen higher.
It's wide enough but not tall enough.

This is 2 feet by 1 foot for $8.
I think if you need it longer or wider you can ask for it and they may do so.
Any way on youtube there are a ton of videos on how to install this stuff.

You can always remove easily too by heating it up and pealing it off. Same to install.
recommend this: 3M Di-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl

    racorbit,
I've been busy with the holidays. I think I'll have time this weekend to stretch the cloth again and do some glassing. Originally I was unhappy with the slight off center mount I did but after looking at it a bunch a realized that I didn't like the way the contours were going to meet up with the cup... there would really be no way of really making it "flow" well into the contours of the console so a modified the base plate too.

I shaved the base plate a 1/4" below the bevel of the cup so now instead of trying to conform to the console it will sit inside and come out of it.

I'll post pics of it in the morning to help describe what I'm talking about.

    Great work BTW.

I think I will like this look much better, but will the screen still be easily visible, with it slightly recessed?

This is only temporary though isn't it? Because I wasn't going to suggest mounting the dock into the bottom of your holders so that you can run the audio input under the console hidden, but I guess you would be hindering your cup holder for what may only be temporary.

Ok... here we go. I'm about to wet sand with and paint but have three last questions.

I'm going with black exterior trim paint (what I used the first time) as I like the way it matches my stock plastic trim.

I don't want to clear coat it as I like the almost flat finish, but I'm worried about the paint getting scratched up.

    1. Should I use 400 or 600 grit for wet sanding the final coat of primer?

    2. Is this trim paint strong enough to be the final coat?

    3. Should I wet sand the final paint coat with 2000 grit and polish?

    Thanks for all the help!

I've been delayed as I've been waiting for my SEM Texture to ship

While I've been waiting I hooked up a trade of a watch for a Lilliput EBY701-NP/C/T 7" VGA Touchscreen Monitor (BRAND NEW IN BOX BABY!!!).

So I've decided to mold the screen into my dash since it's still just primed.

I've also decided to follow djvillar's lead and remove my deck and run sound direct for iPhone.

Any pointers on molding in the lilliput into my dash?

    Thanks in advance!
