10.4" lilliput/mac mini + audio worklog - 03 chev blazer

Howdy do all, iv finally started my carpc build and am pretty excited about how its going already i plan to use centrafuse for my main front end and DashCommand for visual diagnostics and gauges and with a friend we have in the works to write a nice GUI to control a 4 link air suspension system through usb and possibly wifi, but were still in the first steps of development there..... until then ill let the pics speak for themselves, let me know what you all think so far.

i removed the back casing and taped the seccond circuit board to the backside of the monitors with tape, to test the video and touch response with myspace and halo legends, ill silicone the boards down once everythiing is ready for paint and install.

I used a combination of epoxy glue with an excellerator to tack the monitor frame in place, epoxy putty which by the way thank you for the tip in another thread Nexson iv never used it before and its great stuff and body filler for the smaller pinholes and lowspots, i still have a few imperfections to go over but they will be fixed after work.

I should be able to have it primered and working in the car to test this weekend.

I like the primer your using, that red spot putty is your best friend,resist the urge to paint if you still have little defects, some primer, red spot putty and a couple extra days will make this thing come out fantastic!

Appreciate the positive feedback man you do some mighty fine work yourself, the primer is a quick dry primer/sealer from duplicolor in a rattle can, unfortunately my 2k high build i favor is all gunky and i don't want to put it in my sprayer that way lol, and yeah i wont get to paint after putting this much time into it and have imperfections all over it, just wouldn't be worth it for any showpiece.

You can pick up a much higher build primer. I just picked some up yesterday, It is called SEM High Build Primer,. works GREAT!

I have used the SEM and can say, it works very well. There is one other that I have used that is even better than the SEM, but the brand name eludes me.....i got it from napa. It has and that needs to be punctured and then shake to mix. It filled a 50 grit scratch with ease.

Alright guys, iv susseccfully gotten to the point where im happy with the smootheness of the bezel, i havent done a final sand before paint but i will right before the prep, anyway fit the panel in and didnt even have to cut or notch any of the dash out to fit which im very pleased with.

Its running from a ac cord from the house as of right now until i can wire up an inverter until i can splurge on a carnex supply, until then im off to spring break nationals to check out some sick rides.

I never realized this before but after putting this monitor in and removing my old pioneer nav unit i couldn't believe this is how much junk it took just for it to function, i sure have a LOT of free room behind the dash now.

....Anyway i was taking a look at my little pull out ash tray/cig lighter piece and i found a nice square 4 port usb hub that will fit perfectly and im going to order it soon and try and mold that into it, along with the extended power button and led of the mac mini so i can plug in things and turn the pc on and off with out having to physically see it.

Another question, can i re-title this thread to be a worklog im still pretty new to the forums and i have a few of other things in progress id like to post (custom door panels, fiberglass speaker pods and a woofer enclosure etc) without creating a whole new thread.
