This is part of phase one of my car pc project. I have taken a perfectly good amplifier and gutted it to use as my pc case. I chose an MB Quart DSC 450. One it is a discontinued product so I got it for about the price of a regular mini itx case. Two it has a height of 2.5" so i can easily get a low profile cpu cooler in it. Three the amp comes with vents in the top to aid in cooling. (I may enlarge those)

I am a pc tech so like all pc techs I have spare pc parts at my disposal. I cut up a matx case for the motherboard mount. I wil have to cut it further, but here is the preliminary fit mock up. The white wire is the stock power indicator led lead I will adapt as my pc power indicator.

Asus board mounted. Salvaged motherboard mount was too high, so i used 1/8" nylon spacers.

Now I have to get an endplate cut. Going monday to the waterjet shop. :cool:

i gotta admit-- it looks really weird to see computer connections in a amp.
next thing you know, people are gonna be asking you where you got a MB Quart computer..

If I counter-sink the amp when I mount it, no one will see the computer connections. Im hoping they will ask where I mounted the computer not how I got one from MB Quart. :whistle: :happy:Quote:
