Black paint FREE (also ganked from work)

White primer FREE (yes I am a thief)

Elm 327 OBDII to USB adapter $25.00 (Amazon)

The masking tape is just to hold everything together while the pieces dry

i really want to not like this because of the stability issues with a car pc and using it for critical systems display like you did. but..... i think this is awesome.

Ive been running this set-up for about a month now, no problems, however i do keep the stock instrument panel in the trunk for quick replacement just in case, probably will never have to swap them

do you have a car with obd-ii? if you do and have an iphone you could just get one of those obdii transmitters and use that as a back up

Reminds me of those race car displays. Nice idea.

Most vehicles 96 and newer are OBDII compliant, i do have a bluetooth transmitter, however I find the hardwired ones are more reliable and give you more accurate quicker readouts, plus if something, maybe an EMP from space caused my PC to crash, It only takes about 2 min to swap my panel back lol

absolutely beautiful. Would you be willing to do it for other people? I think you could make some good money.

I've done about 30 or so installs for other people, nothing as extensive as what I have in my eclipse but the money is very good, only problem is the carpc market, not too many computer savy people out there interested in these things
