Fabricating Dashboard
Hey guys. So my dashboard kind of sucks for customization, since its all one part, and its very hard to make a panel only for the LCD or osmething like that.. so i am thinking of re-building it, or at least change some of it. But the thing is its of quite good materials (car model audi 80) and i dont wotn to replace it for something like fiberglass (solid as crap:P)
So i was wandering if some1 has any idea of matarials i could use to make the surface a bit soofter or something like this. i still think that for the main frame i will go with fiber, to make it hard and strong, and then cover it with soemthing else..
any ideas are apriciated!!

yiap. exactly this one. only the wheel is on the other side:> i am thinkiing of getting one from a scrap yard, and modifying that one.. but with lots of cutting.. to make something like BMW style:>

Lots of angles....if you want to follow those lines, you could make a metal (aluminum frame), foam and vinyl or leather finish.

i was thinking of making the frame with polyerethane and fibergalss and then finishing it with something.. .what is vionyl and foam?? cause i dont know very much from those... i want to make something like that pic. or, almost :P

Check this place out. I've gotten some faux leather from them. Good products. Here's a link to the foam you'll need, you're finish cloth/vinyl/leather will go on top of this:

o thans dude! i thin of going with blac leather wherever theres gray leather in the above pic, and with raw fiberglass, or some other plastic finish (like the foam you sendeD) whereever its white, bu painted black. also i found out that if you paint one side of plexiglass black, the other side is a frikingg blac mirror:> so i will be using that instead of the wood:>
well, thats the main idea at least. all that has to be in peace with the car:>

well, i am having exams period this month, so i will just gather information and make in my mind how it must be done. from the enxt month i will go on with buing the metarials. i want to buy from a scrap yard a diferent dashboard and do the work on that, i case i fail:> i also was thinking of making the logo of audi, with somekind of luminus cable, and puting it behind black plexiglas in the midle of the dashboard, so it lights up when my roadlights are on. but i dont want it to be to shiny cause it would suck:P what you guys think about that?
