Talking Anyone have ideas on mounting Lilliput in Honda?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic (4 door) and was curious if anyone has any ideas on how I could accomplish the mounting of the Lilliput (7 in.) screen in the dash where the radio/storage space are now? Any input is GREATLY appreciated as I always keep an open mind.

Use a dremel or simialar tool to cut out an opening for the monitor, then use some plastic adhesive to glue to Liliput frame to the cut opening. Once everything sets up, use some body filler to smooth everything out, then sand until even and smooth.

Then paint as desired, however I recommend model car/aircraft spray paint. Just be sure to set the can in some warm/hot water for about 10-15 minutes before use and in-between coats. This will help to thin the paint and it gives a nice smooth even coat.

Let me know if you need any help/more info.

I would take out the entire center console (outline of the radio plus tray below). Move the radio to the bottom ( i would imagine you want to use it )... Move the tray up top and redesign that as a 'din' slot to accomodate the screen.

I notice that you have the factory head unit, so I imagine you don't have an emotional attachment to it. One option to consider it going the full route:

    1. Remove radio
    2. Remove the drawer beneath it. You should now have a double-din slot.
    3. Using the plastic bezel that surrounds the radio and the drawer, cut a Lilliput sized hole in it and mount the Lilliput, then bondo and paint it the way others do with double-din slots.
    4. If you have room above or below w/ the bezel, put a slimline laptop DVD slot drive in. If you don't have space, cut the plastic around the three HVAC buttons beneath the drawer and move them down a couple inches, then bondoglass them back in place (w/ all the sanding and the paint and the GLAVEN!</jerry lewis>) so you've made room for the slimline drive. Run the USB cable to your carputer.
    5. Get a radio device for your carputer (everyone here uses the D-Link FM radio, there's also a neat looking Griffin USB radio coming out sometime that supports FM and AM) so you can still get radio. If you already have XM or Sirius, just use the RCA in and skip the local radio.
    6. Get a GPS mouse (or some other small GPS device, expect to pay around $70-80) and put it somewhere it can see satellites but not be obtrusive, mine is under a piece of fiberglass on a pod on my dash) for navigation.

If you replicate the head unit, expect to buy an amplifier to mount somewhere to provide the power to run your speakers.

These are really excellent ideas you guys have come up with, now I'm just waiting on those pages out of the auto manual to find the screws to take out the HU. Definitely no emotional attachment whatsoever. I will post pics as soon as it's mounted. Thanks.

One thing though, not quite sure how to secure the Lilliput in the that opening. Bear with me as I have no exerience with these screens and thats one of the pieces I have yet to figure out (aside from actually taking out the HU).

Just remove the screen from the housing and then attach the moulding to the inside of the opening with adhesive.
