Really?
Wow, you guys are getting ripped off.
I've never done any f/g work at a shop, I always do it myself, but I asked and was quoted $125 for a simple 7" LCD dash mount.
The shop is owned by a friend so maybe he was cutting me a deal.
Who's getting ripped off? Where did you read I paid that much? I do all my own work. But yes you will get ripped off at an audio shop. It's what audio shops do. Most people don't have a clue or are too intimidated when it comes to custom fabrication so the markup is outrageous.
That simple 7" dash mount you got a quote for was likely a bolt on arm from your dash or something similar. What ericdee wants is custom fiberglass enclosure. Not a "simple dash mount".

well, thanks for all the replies. i personally went to an audio shop and asked for a quote on a custom fiberglass enclosure for my lilliput and i got quotes of $500-700. but thanks to this board, i found someone who'll do it for $50 + return shipping. hope everything works out!

your first mount was just on top of the dash? and now you blocked your vents? where is your old mold? damn it!
reda4: how do you get the mold to fit so well against the curve of the dash? That last pic especially? Looks real good man.....you were part of my inspiration (from a post over @ audiworld) to put a carputer in the A4....and it been an addiction since...
Hahaha, relax. I meant anyone that doesn't do it themselves.Originally Posted by brrman
