    I just bought a 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that comes with the mach 460 system. I personally like the sound so I want to hook my carputer pu to the factory system and remove the existing HU. I found this adapter online which claims to be able to hook up an aftermarket HU to the factory mach 460 system:

    http://www.soundgate.com/products/factory/ford.htm

    any ideas? think it'll work?

    thx,
    chris

    Ok that Mach460 article was exactly what I have been looking for for over 2 years now!!! Scorpnstail, I've seen that you wanted in another post to connect the PC directly to the stock system. That's exactly what I want to do. I was thinking about this but I found one issue. Follow me here:

    Computer Speaker Out -> 1/8" to dual stereo RCA cables.

    1/8'----|====< RCA1 and RCA2

    Split RCA1 to Left +/- and Right +/- and connect those directly to the tweeter LF+/-,LR+/-,RF+/-,RR+/- on the Metra Harness since it is an amplified signal from the computer.

    Plug RCA2 into the Metra Harness directly.. Will this be a problem with the audio level? This is not a Pre-Amp out really, but an amplified out. Does this have to be converted some how? And if so, with what kind of device?
    HI Lo Adapters The NS60 looks like an idea.

    Your idea sounds pretty sound and should possibly work .. I do not know enough about car audio to know if it would work or not .. I am going to read that article above and see what I can piece together myself. I will let you know if I come up with anything else.

    Tmar ... Lets continue this conversation over in my post under car audio so we dont wind up hijacking this thread

    That looks really good... was it all fiberglassed? or what process did you go through exactly to make it? I need to do the same thing to my car, and need someone to point me in the right direction of the whole process. Thanks.

    I like the first couple of images, but just a thought. If the ciggy lighter was moved, you fill all the space under the edge of the screen for a smoother look.

    Doesn't look like you could get the lighter out to use it ATM anyway.

    Pull the radio, add a 4channel amp, and run your ampd signal back up to the factory wiring in the dash. The tweeters in the 460 are NOT amplified in the stock mach setup so these are good wires to use in order to get your signal out to the doors without running new wires all the way there. Cut your door speaker wires that come from the factory amp, then run your tweeter wires down to them. Wallah, you've ran your amp out to the factory wiring and then from your factory tweets to your door speakrs. Its probably a good idea to replace the speakers too but you can do that later if you don't have the cash right away. Your only held back by yourself, not the mach system!
    Hey gnat....nice setup!!! I have a 03 Mach1 myself which I can't wait to get a carputer into. I like how your screen is set up, that is exactly what I had in mind for mine. Do you have any intall pictures? or perhaps pointers?
