Hey Pyros, I wish I came across your page earlier. I just spent the last 4 days rewiring my audio system, one of those days was spent just with the power cable from the battery to the amp. I did some research and everybody says to use the existing grommet inside the firewall. It's a lot of tedious work to use it. You have to crawl upside down into that space, and you have to cut a lot of electrical tape and trim away the rubber grommet so that you can access it. I like your way better. That woulda saved me about 4 hours.

Willy: thanks man. I hope the paint comes out well. I got the paint code from someone on the registry, its apparently the closest match. We'll see how it goes.

SwapMeet: Honestly, I didn't even research it or I'd probably have tried the way you did :P Just spent an hour looking for options and that was the best I saw. It was actually half decent also since it was the perfect location for a power distribution block and to keep the 4 guage running to the trunk. What kind of stang are you driving? year/specs?

If either of you guys are interested, here is my bezel now primered:

    Thanks,
    Chris

EDIT: P.S. I've since fixed the few imperfections on the bezel since I took that picture

Pyros: I've got a 2000 V6 Mustang. I got it as a college graduation gift. Underpowered, a little heavy. I've kept it pretty much stock this whole time, but I've started tinkering with it a little bit. I've put a Tri-Ax short shifter and man, that thing is the best $160 I've ever spent. All you 'stang owners really need to get a short shifter. The factory one is too springy, too long, and too imprecise.

    Current Setup:
    Kenwood KDC-M319 Head Unit
    Kenwood Sirius Satellite Tuner
    Kenwood KCA-S210A Auxilary input unit
    Pyle 6" In Dash Monitor
    Phoenix Gold Amplifier
    Polk 12" DX subwoofer
    PS2

No computer yet. I need to resolve a video issue with my computer. It only displays in black and white on my monitor. Can't figure out why. I may just forego that and use an X-Box instead.

WOW! That is a sweet bezel job.. I wish I had the time, patience and skill to pull something like that off.. I took the lazy way out and just cut part of my bezel and mounted the screen where the radio was

That bezel turned out awesome!!!! Great job man ! I can just hope that when I do mine it comes out as good as that, post when you paint it, that is one of my main concerns. I think I'm going to get an extra bezel just in case I mess up mine....plus it will be something to put on the car while I canibalize the other one for a few weekends

Pyros: If you have any experience with fiberglass, you may want to think about making a mold of your bezel and start selling this bad boy. I'll buy one.

tmar89: thanks man, much appreciated :P

willy: i purchased an extra (used) bezel off ebay for about $20us and I got an extra lilliput housing from digitalww.com for $15. I didn't want to screw up anything original

SwapMeet: haha making a mould of this one would be way too much work. Just get an extra bezel & lilliput and hack away :P I've been working on this on and off since the summer, with month long gaps in between. When the mach is away in the garage over the winter i kinda forget about the project hehe :P
