I cannot do the exact math right now but it seems that the case + faceplate is about $200.

What did you use to have the slim DVD rom work with IDE? I think in the pic it looks like an adaptor of some kind.

Also, you built the case all by yourself? All those curves and stuff. It looks professional
For DOC it is excelrate 32MB.
Slim CDROM adapter is sold here:

    Real good price.
The case was made with my friend in a metal shop. We built about 5 or 6 of them before this one

Jbors- what type of RAM are you using? Is it low profile?

I am thinking of doing a similar setup (PSU). I just have two questions.

How long does it take you system to boot up and play music?
With your PSU option are you able to go into standby/hibernate modes or does it COLD start every time?

Actually with linuxbios I can get 4 secs for bios section, plus linux part is about 15 secs. The total cold boot time 19 secs. I've got preliminary linux distro with movies and music for touchscreen ~10Mb.
I do not use hibernate as I believe I can strip down the linux part to 5-7 secs.

    Guys,
Just wanted to update you on install. I have installed everything into my VW. And still waiting for amp to arrive to have a complete setup.
Also I've decided to keep my HU as it makes perfect sense, so I'll have cleaner look and stuff. The PC will be next to it and HU will be controlling Audio/Video when inserted into DVD-ROM( no software so far ).
So it will be just Plug-N-Play installation.
    What you think ?

    Here we go.

Before installation: no headunit, just wires:

    Installing the in-dash monitor

    Everything is in place.

PyCar is running from the 32MB DOM module

So far I installed it all with the keypad. But I'll change that later either for touchscreen( when price go down... ) or attach the PC to the HU( cheaper though ! )
Once I install the amplifier, I'll go to the showoff section. Finally !!!
