Thread: no0b...how do i go about removing my dash? i can't see any bolts!

    oh yeahh, i forgot to mention that i don't know jack [or his brother] about soldering. well, actually, i do. i know how to pronouce it!

    so uh, i'm gonna head down to my local radio shack and bug the guy in there to teach me how to solder [i'll catch on fast, i believe]. if he's no good, i'll go to this local short wave radio/computer store here in town. someone is gonna know how...

    what might help too, is if someone [looks around at the forum] did a step by step breakdown of their lilliput, with zoomed in photos of what to solder and stuff

    wouldn't hurt to tell me what size soldering iron to use, and what type of solder...

    anyhoo....

    i'm outtie.
    don't let a day go by without finding some wonder in it...

    people at radio shack don't know crap anymore.. find you a good electronic store in town.. one that just sells electronic components (ie capacitors, resistors, circuit boards, etc) radio shack nowdays has just a cabinet with a fwe switcheds, etc in them... times have changed

    1 Negative (-) battery cable.
    2 Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System.
    3 Pull out instrument panel compartment while pushing its stopper from both left and right sides.
    4 Two plastic hinge pins and instrument panel compartment.
    5 Two screws and set aside hood release handle.
    6 Two screws, three bolts and passenger-side SIR module.
    7 Two plastic retaining clips, two screws, two electrical connectors (if equipped with power windows) and parking brake lever bezel from vehicle.
    8 Two screws, two plastic retaining clips and lift console.
    9 Power/Normal switch electrical connector (if equipped with 4-speed A/T) and remove console from vehicle.
    10 Ashtray from guide by depressing spring-loaded tab and pulling ashtray out from the guide.
    11 Four knobs from heater control unit.
    12 Heater control unit face plate from center trim bezel by pulling straight out.
    13 Illumination lamp bulb socket from heater control unit.
    14 Four screws and center trim bezel.
    15 A/C switch electrical connector (if equipped).
    16 our screws, two electrical connectors and radio.
    17 Four screws and knee bolster trim panel.
    18 Pull gently top portion of knee bolster trim panel to release two retainers.
    19 Two bolts and knee bolster from instrument panel.
    20 Steering column.
    21 Four screws and instrument cluster bezel.
    22 Four screws and instrument cluster assembly.
    23 Three electrical connectors and speedometer cable from instrument cluster assembly.
    24 Mode and temperature control cables on right side of heater case.
    25 Fresh/Recirculation control cable at blower case.
    26 Blower switch electrical connector and heater control unit from vehicle.
    27 Instrument panel harness electrical connectors.
    28 One screw holding left side of the instrument panel support beam to vehicle.
    29 One screw on bottom left side of instrument panel.
    30 Left side instrument panel support beam cover and two bolts.
    31 Right side instrument panel support beam cover and two bolts.
    32 Left and right screws at bottom of instrument panel compartment support.
    33 Two front speaker grills and instrument panel upper center cover with flat-bladed screwdriver.
    34 Three screws along top of instrument panel.
    35 Pull instrument panel from support member.
    36 Instrument panel from vehicle.

    reverse to install

    also disconect battery for at least 10 minutes to disable air bag .
    then it will be safe to then work on dash
    and dont connect battery & turn key on without air bags hooked up or it will set a code for an open circut in the air bag control unit.
    air bag code almost always will need to be reset by the dealer $$$$

    bringing up an old thread.
    What about removing the Jeep compass front bezel?
    I got the replacement, and it looks like 4 snaps, but what would i do? get a screwdriver and pry?
