    Building a Center Console

I just wanted some suggestions on what to use to build a center console. I want it to be similer to this, although smaller:

I was thinking of using fiberglass at first, but the cost, and the smell, and the lack of experiance with it (none, lol) kind of turned me away from that idea. I was also thinking of just making it out of wood and either painting it, or covering it with some kind of vinyl type covering (idk what i'd use though). I was also maybe thinking of making it out of wood, and putting a small layer of bondo on it to smooth it out, and paint on it.

Let me know what you think...

I'd use wood and then maybe put bondo on it to get rid of the "graininess" or sand it really good. then paint it. the actual design looks awesome. is that going to be a lilliput tho? if so isnt it kinda small in the drawing?

You could try some of the textured acrylics that are out there (sorry no link). Stuff is easy to machine and glue together (fish tank glue). You can sand and paint to match your interior.

Wood with covering would be the easiest sollution IMO.

    BTW...The concept looks sweet....Good Luck!

I would use MDF (wood) and bondo. Use a router if you want a rounded edges and then cover it in vinyl. Colour match it with paint if it isn't quite the right colour. If you want to get that spongy feeling underneath the vinyl, use some thin sponge.
A suggestion, use cardboard to get the right layout and shape. Then you use the cardboard as a template to cut the wood.

EbFoxbat- I started today, but didn't get very far. There are alot of weird angles/edges that make it pretty tricky. I just used some old particle board I had, because I plan on covering it in bondo to smooth it out. All I got done are measurements, and I cut the boards, didn't have time to screw them together or anything.

Ide Use That Floral Foam stuff. Easy to shape. What I would do is Make the shape of the out side, Fiberglass over the top. And Gut the middle out. use Strips of wood or what ever to screw ur Stuff into.
