    Maybe, it will not 'hurt' it it. Mostly we do not have high humidity problems in Colorado...

    There are two types of paint.
    I don't know the names of them in english.
    I thought is had something to do with the lead in it.
    When you mix these types up (using a primer of the first, and a collor of the second) you get this kind of troubles.
    Did you allready think of that?

    In the US you can not buy lead based paint anymore, Federal regulation prohibits it.

    This has been true for years. You may be thinking of acrylic vs laytex.

    acrylic = latex.

    i think you mean latex or oil (alkyd) based paints.

    latex stays on top of what you are painting while oil seeps into it. you cant paint latex over oil but not the other way around

    if you paint oil over latex, it will not hold and will tend to feel mushy.

    i think 88F may be too warm with that humidity. what might be happening is the top part of the paint is drying first. try painting in a cooler environment and let it dry as naturally and completely as possible. dont put it next to heat lamps or anything. it might actually take a day or two to cure fully. of course, if you're going to apply more layers of the paint, you'd probably want to lightly sand it and repaint before it cures completely.

    read the label?

    latex paints usually dont have that much of an oder to them (compared to oil based paint). latex is also water cleanup (can wash hands and brushes with just soap and water) while you need paint thinner to clean oil based paint.

    what brand is the paint and primer? if you know the brand and product line, it shouldnt be too hard to figure out.
