the p/n depends on what your row of buttons looks like (DSC, heated seats, H/K spatialiser button etc).

If your buttons are all one piece, like mine pictured below, then the p/n is 51.16.7.001.410 - $26.50 at BMA auto parts

If your buttons are separate, the p/n is different and I can't find it right now!

    I'm based in the uk.

Only have the ASC button and the cigarette lighter. Dont smoke so not bothered about the cig lighter, and not really gonna need to switch the ASC off, so will hide the button behind the screen. I'm definetly interested in the i-bus interface, can you give me more details. Also can any of you tell me the best way to integrate the sound from the carputer so that it comes out of the stock speakers. I have the standard stereo and not the HK system.

Miagi: What year is your car? If it is 2003+, you have a very simple solution...the OEM aux input mod!

    http://www.mattmcnulty.com/325xi/DIY/aux_input.html

If your car isn't new enough, you can get some other adapters for aux input...here is one:

...but there are many other ways of getting aux input into the BMW head unit. Then you can just switch between radio/cd/auxilary (carputer)

jackboot, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my car is a 2001. Is there any solution available that will allow me to still keep my cd changer? Also does the bmw dealership sell aux adapters for e46's?

miagi: The BMW dealership does sell aux adapter units, but only for 2003+ vehicles.

You might want to look into this unit:

I think it will allow you to keep your CD changer and have aux input also for bimmers built before 2003.

Is that a Xenarc or a Lilliput? Did you do one of the automatic on mods? I don't see any screen buttons...?

jackoot: thanks for your advice. Im going to visit a few car audio shops today, to see if they have any in stock.

The screen is a lilliput, and yes i have done the auto-on mod. Also i have re-located the IR sensor, so am still able to use the remote.
