C230 Kompressor

Well i finlaly decided where to put my screen after much thought,, so now to the fabrication of things,, my benz has either the main dash made up of a rubbery like plastic with texture i dunno how i would replicate,, as well as the wood accents that are deep red that after much analyzing seems to be a plastic that i wish i could get a hold of to make my piece with,, its going to fit here

at first i wasnt going to remove the ash tray and change holder and put the screen in front of that,, but after i did i found i had a great piece for a mold that i could use to create a cast,, but for what yet im not sure,,, alos after taking it out i realized i could put the screen further back and the gear shift wouldnt be such a problem as i was worried about before which is why i was contemplating putting the screen on top of the dash,,, in the sun,, for everyone to see.... and possibly steal... so now i think this is going to be the best bet....

i have a few road blocks ahead,,

1- my cd changer went out which is why i decided to put a pc in the first place as they are fiber optic and cost a good 600 bucks to replace,, might as well run the carpc route,, originally supposed to be an xbox,, hacked of course

2- that leaves me with only the radio input as i want to keep the original head simply because i have phone integration with it,, and,, its just sexy.. i dont like the aftermarker obvious ad-on look,, and mine does not have a tape deck and at the current time for the life of me i cannot find out how to remove the head,,and or if im going to be able to use the tape inputs,, or if it will even sound good,, i have posted on benzworld.com forums.. not much help yet.. I WANT THE SCHEMATICS!

3- the fabrication of the whole idea,, i want it to be extremely neat,, as i am very anal about details.. sooo000ooo im looking for any help on the whole wood trim option,, as this is what i would really like,, its a plastic looking layerd piece,, which im sure is available but just hard to match the color/pattern,, im wondering if anyone has use such a thing,, here damnit ill take a pic of the ashtray,, hold up,,, wait this is a thread,, why am i still typing...ok back s0rry

thats the piece i will actually be replacing which is like 7x8 inches witch the change holder above the ashtray,, i am currently blank,, but ill update,,

any help on anything would be greatly appreciated,, if not,, ill keep it updated,, in case theres another c230 owner out there..... needing the same help.. or perhaps someone wanting to use the wood style trim plastic

anyways i found this guys car,, its a year older than mine and therfore the old interior but only by a little bit and in general the size of everything looks similar,, and it looks as if he used the housing,, and it coveres his head,, and it doesnt look too good to me,,,(if its anyones on here no offense,, opinion maYne) anyways it looks as if he put the screen where i would keep my original head and he put his new head where i would put my screen,, it just looks too aftermarket,, doesnt go well together

If your CD changer used opitcal inputs why not just get a sound card with fiber optic out?

Do you have a pic with all of the dash parts in place and the measurements of the opening you are considering? Does that door revolve or just swing open? If it revolves you can mount the screen to to the back. If it swings, how do you feel about modifing it to revolve?

I don't have a 99 C230 to reference, it looks different than the 2003 I have access to.

Where are you located. What other components are you considering / using?

I wouldnt go for that 'indash housing' I got one, very poor quality.. I sold mine to a guy.. he thought that same as me and binned it. I would bring the look and feel of car down. I wrote a review, read it at my website (link below)
