    Nice!

    Very nice!

I'm about to do my first install in my Volvo S80, but I’m not going to do an "in dash" installation at this moment.

I'm wondering how you have mounted the PC in the trunk (Since S60 and S80 are basically the same design) Do you have any pictures?

    Hey S80,

I haven't mounted the 'puter yet, but I will make a small case (mini-itx) that has only one connector on the outside (old scsi 50p connector). That way I will be able to take it out very easely.

When I have some results, I will post pics here.

    Joa

P.S. Nice car, the S80 btw

Ok. That sounds like a clever solution... I have to think about something similar!

Your installation so far looks awesome S60!

I'm about to install the Puter in my C70. I'm still waiting for some parts for it. I haven't decided if I should go for an "in dash" installation yet either. But I just got to go to my dealer and see if I can get that 2din Panel for my C70 aswell.

That C70 certainly is a nice car too!

I hope you can find the panel, as it is really helpful if you want to keep it simple and still have a factory look.

To all VOLVO drivers: what audio-system do you use now/going to use with the 'puter ?

I will be using the factory amp (4x 75w) + speakers (4x 3 way + 1 center in the dash) + an amp for the center speaker (30w max, I guess) and one for an additional sub. This way I can have 5.1 sound

neat setup, how did you fry your xenarc. Hope you correct it, so that you don't fry the next one, or your comp. Also put inline fuses on your power lines, they save the day.
2 thumbs up to that fabrication. It looks really OEM. did you do that with fiberglass/bondo too? i.e like the BMW one?

Well, I used an 2din adapter that was available from volvo and that fits very nicely in the dash (instead of the HU803 dolby pro logic head-unit from volvo) and cut my xenarc to fit in the 2din space.
Then I filled up the gaps with "body filler" (which you guys call bondo, I guess). I needed about 5-6 layers to get a nice surface and form and another 10 layers of paint (with wet 600 sanding inbetween) to have a result I liked.
The colors do not seem that different as they look like in the pictures.

The xenarc was just reverse polarized, so the fuse didn't help anyway. Plain stupidity, after 5 hours of working on the car, I didn't check the polarity of the power plug before I plugged it

I guess I'll figure that out next week when I get back to work!

If you're interested, I can give you the pinout on the stock amplifier (is you have one, it is located under the passenger seat). It looks like this:

I never thought of that before, I was just out and looked. I have an amplifier under the passangers seat but It's quite smaller than yours. And it doesn't have that metall/plastic casing.

Wonder of it would be the same pinout? =)

PS: I don't have the center speaker that you have in the middle of the front dash. There are 3 Sound systems. Basic/Normal/Advanced, I have the Normal one. (Not sure they are called this, just to illustrate my point=)
