No probs on the english, as it's not my 1st language too

I love the Volvo's and I think it's cool you founded a club!

The rimm's are heico 19 inch, it's clear you know your stuff

    I would have liked it to be a T5 too, but it's only a d2.4 (130hp)
I'm planning on chipping it to have 198hp soon (as it is the same engine of the D5 with 160+ hp, it really only adds 35hp)

There was no phone installed in mine, so I have a very ugly car-kit for now. I'm planning on hiding the phone somewhere and controlling it with the carpc...

The 480 GT is a wonderfull car, hope you find one and you install a nice carpc in it!

and by the way, I LOVE your country (been there 2 times already)...

Oh, and on the HU question, I think it is possible to create a switch that outputs the PC OR the HU to the amp.

Other option is to connect the hu to your soundcard (line in) and then your soundcard to you amp...

There seems to be an undocumented line-in on a lot of those volvo hu's, but that you will have to look into yourself www.swedespeed.com has some interesting people/articles on that.

    That's what I call a fast reply

That rimms are fabulous. In the S80 I will put the Volvo 17' Interceptor rimms. I was thinking in put 18', but's too big for a car that is used almost all the time in city.
the D5 with 198hp must be awesome.. especially in a S60.

I will look for that Hu line in in swedespeed. I was thinking if there are some adaptor to the md changer input... or to the nav in.

Thanks for the help and... you're allways welcome again in Portugal

    Exclamation Attention Guys!!!!!

    ATTENTION GUYS!!!!!

The volvo amplifier has POSITIVE GROUNDING on the inputs !!!

If I connected the amp to an MP3 player and eveything worked fine, BUT when I connected the amp to a laptop AND the Xenarc monitor, the fuse blew!

Seems that there is 12v between the audio-input ground and the chassis of the car!

    Hi u Volvo owners
I have one V50 and unfortunatly its not the best car to put a screen on because the radio is strange, no din, no nothing
Do u have any ideas where to put my screen in there?
I bought one of those http://www.cartft.com/carpc/catalog/gl/19 things but they are ugly,
do u know where I can get a "screen holder" less ugly than that to put in the front vents?
thanks a lot fr your help and good job!

Hmm, I have the mount that comes with the Xenarc screens, and it looks a lot more elegant, but it still is kind of ugly... :S

Maybe loose the central vents and re-model the dash?

Unfortunately there aren't many options with the new 40/50 series with the MOST/CAN interface, I don't even know if its possible to lose the stock radio without causing problems. Outboard mounts are probably your only options and if its sturdy - generally its ugly. It its pretty - generally its flimsy, not a good thing for a touchscreen. Trying to hit a spot on the screen with it bouncing around on a gooseneck is dangerous.

Try searching for Panavise options. You can adapt one of their cell phone mounts (assuming they have one for the 50) to the stock Xenarc. This is what I did on my 70. I had the barrel of the Xenarc mount drilled and tapped and then used a combo wingnut/bolt to mount to the Panavise. I don't see a listing for the 2004.5 S40 so they may not have one for the new 40/50 series.

I figure you can have some sort of option to replace the stock hu by an aftermarket one... they *should* have that option anyway!

Just a thought, but doesn't 2005 S40/V50 have a stock navigation screen that pops out of the dash? Can u fabricate a piece to replicate the navi screen mount?

Not sure about whether they do or not. The 60/70/80/XC90's all have it as an option so I imagine the 40/50 do as well. You would have to completely replace the stock screen since its not VGA, and its more like a 5" than a 7" screen.
