MacGuru: I know this is an old post now, but just wanted to say awesome job Watching you go from having no idea what you were doing with the tool to being able to do what you did has given me a little confidence to go pick one up myself

Sigh. I'm finally putting together my car PC and starting to think about making myself one of these (I've decided the tiny trackball I purchased while cute would be dangerously difficult to use while driving), and my PS/2 port dies - nothing works in it . So - does anyone know if this will work with a USB ps/2 adapter and if so, where I can get one cheap?

Unfortunately I've also runing out of spare USB ports which means I'll need to add a USB hub into the mix

IMO a touchpad is probably the best input device for a car 2nd to steering wheel controls, as long as you have it in a place where your wrist rests on something to keep your hand steady over bumps. They use a little concave shaped rubber thing in the 747, but I think for most of us the center console is enough if it's positioned right.

Oh, here maybe. It's a mouse/kb to USB. But would it require a keyboard too?

Just wondering how you actually click? I understand the touchpad allows you to move your cursor around, but how do you actually click or select something? Thanks for your help. Nice Z. I have a 350 myself and am trying to incorporate a mac mini.

    Thanks again!

How about making an application for a mobile phone with a touchscreen to works as a touchpad through bluetooth (example: T-mobile MDA)

That's a good idea too, but to make it works as a mouse touchpad only?

To 'click', simply tap your finger. If you want the 'contextual menu' (or control-click), simply tap your finger in the upper right hand corner. If you want to 'scroll', simply drag your finger along the right hand side. See picture before applying the overlay film. Works great and takes up no space! Thanks to it's nifty location.

Hey Macguru....great job on the touchpad.....quike question.... i was doing some searching online and i cant find a customizable track pad film.....do you know if theres anyone who make it?? or what kind of material is it made from?? im working on another carpc project for a friend and i would like to install this touch pad with a custom logo on the touchpad. I was thinking of printing something on sticky vinyl film and laminating it then using it as the track pad film......i just ordered the touchpad but im just courious to know if you have come acress anything like this....
