Finally gave in and just bought it tonight - after spending a few evenings looking for better prices. I did find a better price on the underdash radio kit that I've been looking at for awhile, but not a better price on that particular Ford F-150 kit. I just hope that it works. I'll update this thread when I get it and have time to try it out with the Lilly....keep your fingers crossed

No. Without completely removing the LCD from the chassis it will not fit into a double din without some work. Though, what some auto manufacturers call "Double Din" can range in reality from 1.5DIN to 2.5DIN.. so sometimes the double din adaptors for an OEM refit will actually have quite a bit more room behind them. Still, I dont think your purchase was in vain. If it doesn't happen to fit, $15 is not much to spend for something you can put in your car or modify to make into a bracket. Heck, I'd even say that $15 is worth something you can hold up there to eyeball how you would like a custom piece to look and to see how it would have to mount.

I bought a $15 radio adaptor for my install and did not ever use it except to see how it attached and take measurements on it. It saved me hours of trying to get things right by trial and error. Considering that a custom shop would charge you close to $1K to build a part for you, $15 should be a gamble any sane person would jump on!

It's in the car now...it did fit. The only place I had real problems with was the top edge, so I cut it down. I didn't want to cut the car, so I cut the $15 kit and it fits and looks great. The lilli had some of the silver showing, which is all gone now - you can see it on the pictures on my website of the old setup. I don't have any really good pictures of the new setup because I've been busy.

As far as I know my radio opening is standard double din. The radio that came out of it is about 4.5" x 7"

Well, at least it worked for me. Anyone could trim the piece down...it fit perfectly in the opening after some trimming with a dremel and cutting by hand.

    Which Din kit

Hey which din kit did you buy for the e46? Can you post some pics after you install it. I was thinking about doing the same for mine. I bought a AVN5495 unit. Thanks, Tom
