Cable routing for custom in-dash lcd

I'm fleshing out my plans for mounting a 10.4" lcd in dash with a sliding and rotating mechanism.

Now I'm thinking about the wires. VGA cables are stiff and will get in the way of the rotation. How do the commercial in-dash solutions handle this?

Could I get extra long cables from the lcd controller to the panel since I imagine those are thin (ditto for the inverter cable). Then I'm thinking of having them enter the panel case right by the rotation mechanism or even through a hole in the middle of it if possible. I can then keep the externally visible piece (the panel only) very small and less imposing by keeping all the electronics hidden inside the dash.

What do people think? Anyone done this?
