Welcome to the board, and Thank you.
I use a cheap metal breifcase. It is larger than I need but fits behind the truck seat.
I started working on my carputer for about three weeks then my unit sent me to Iraq (I'm a Marine) so I've been out here and I'm just trying to do some research on what I can do to improve my PC. At first I used a plasitic enclosure I got from FRY's. One of those case's that you can use to put circuits or whatever you build, mostly for hobbies or science projects. I cut it down to size and it fits pretty good. But now my plans have changed and I'm looking for a bigger enclosure and possibly made of metal. I've searched but I haven't found anything that was exactly what I needed. I found lots of enclosures for servers and rackmount systems but nothing small that I can use. Does anybody know of anything that i can use or where i can find it? If you know i'll be sure to send you a 100% Genuine Terrorist from here in IRAQ. don't worry cause there all over here so i'll have plenty to give out. HAHA LOL. Thanx

What are you trying to put in it ??
emayers04, sorry to get off-topic, but thank you for your service. My best friend got home in May from a 14 month "trip to the sandbox." Stay safe, take care of yourself, and come home whole. Thank you again.
And have a look at http://www.mini-itx.com
There are tons of things on there that might give you ideas. Several people have used ammo boxes. You should be able to come by one of those pretty easily, right?

I would also like to say thank you for your service and I think that it's cool that you are able to visit the forum while in Iraq. What kind of mobo are you using? I think the ammo box idea is pretty cool too.
Like EZ said, just wanted to thank you for your service and protecting our country. Stay safe!

I was repairing a house and came across a electrical box that I plan on using for my next car-puter. This one is a 12" x 12", had has a water tight sealed lid that screws on to the top. I talked to a electrican friend and he said they come in all sizes like 6x6, 8x8, etc. You can get them at any electrical supply house like West Coast etc. If you need I could probably post pics of it.
@emayers04 Thank you for your service. A Pelican case is an idea as well. http://www.pelican.com/cases/cases.html somewhat pricey but you can order almost anysize.
@TimmyM I think that is something similar to a NEMA enclosure. They are pretty cheap on ebay every once in a while.

Whenever I get the chance to thank someone from our military, I make sure I take the chance. Please tell your fellow marines that I say thank you for your brave service. I pray for your safe home-coming and protection while you are doing work that deserves our praise and gratitude.
Now, what approximate size of a box were you thinking?? Are you actually thinking of a CASE or a box that you can place your components in? What components/system do you have?
