Hmm. It does indeed look like you're in a pickle... You might have to get rid of the vent and the other thing above your CD player. What is that thing to the left of your vent anyhow?

As for using a laptop, it's really still too big. If you insist on using a laptop, you might be able to run some of the wiring under the carpet or behind your dash... Depends where you're hooking it up. You might want to look into a mini-ITX solution. Much smaller than a laptop.

As for power, you might need a power inverter. I think some mini-ITX power supplies can do DC to DC so no need for an inverter there.

If you're asking questions about DC-DC and that sort of thing, then you're going to have a rough go of it...

agreed...first thing I would do is read as much as possible on what is required to put a carputer into your car/truck. I would do that before you start thinking about cutting stuff and buying stuff.

I used to have a Navajo with the same dash and I moved some stuff around



That was the second idea, made my own slide out that would popup and crap.

I wish I had a pic of the 3rd revision. I moved the 4x4 control to the steering area plastic and got rid of the vent. For the radio I moved that down to where the ashtray was and got rid of the ashtray. I then just made a mount (at that time I didn't try fiber/bondo) out of speaker box carpet and some thin board. It worked great, until the Navajo tranny died on me and I ripped it all out 1 week later after finishing it.

But you can easily fit a 7" LCD in the radio/4x4 control area with some fiber/bondo work.

Wow, thats awesome, how would I go about doing that??? Never done any cutting of dash boards and fiber stuff, thanks.
