Why not, providing you have the rest of it otherwise you would have to rebuild the missing part using sheet of plastic or layers of it to build thickness. Check this out.
Hi. My and my grandpa were having an argument if I could fix my cupholder with bondo and then cut a rectangular hole and epoxy my touchpad there.
Anyone know the answer?

The problem is I bought the car w/o that other 1/3 of the cupholderOriginally Posted by kingtut

How big is the touchpad? And do you want it to be made into the broken piece or under it?

Well, lets jsut say the touchpad is smaller than the cupholder. I looked and it'll fit. I want to fix the broken peice and at the same time make a rectangular hole for the touchpad, which will be mounted under the cupholder flap (the peice that's broken).Originally Posted by jjh221
The only thing i can think of is a scrap piece of plastic and fiber glass and bondo, or fiber glass and bondo.

So you're saying that I should just trash that peice and start new? Or practice on something else?Originally Posted by jjh221
A 95 Lexus SC300. Shouldn't be too hard to find that car in a junkyard. Go check them out, I'd be willing to be you could get that piece for no more than $5, then you could throw in your touchpad and if you screw up, no loss. Looking at the picture, and thinking of the touchpad: you could epoxy in the touchpad and then build the cover from that, so it would be easier than fabing a whole new piece from bondo.

Finding my car in a junkyard is one of the hardest parts, especially one with black interior, all of these have been bought up for beige to black interior conversions. The only ones left are the ones that are totally screwed up.
Not that cheapGo check them out, I'd be willing to be you could get that piece for no more than $5, then you could throw in your touchpad and if you screw up, no loss.I wish. I need a door lock actuator, so I called that junkyard, and they wanted $150 for that damn solenoid (a new one costs $208, so not much in savings).
Yeh, fabbing a totally new one out of bondo is practically imposible, because Toyota made these weird places for the spring and locking. I was thinking of fixing the cover, as in rebuilding the broken peice, then cutting the rectangular hole and expoxying the touchpad. Is this feasable?Looking at the picture, and thinking of the touchpad: you could epoxy in the touchpad and then build the cover from that, so it would be easier than fabing a whole new piece from bondo.
no i was saying that you should cut a piece of plastic the shape and size you need to replace the missing piece. Then glue the piece in and fiber glass the bottom side to help hold Then either run another piece of fiber glass over the top and bondo and sand. Or just create the piece out of fiber glass and smooth with bondo. Or like ya said just get another pice of plastic and see if ya could make your own. Then paint when done. I dont know im no fiber glass and bondo expert.
