does that fit your xenarc perfectly now? if so why not fiberglass what you have and build that up?
I'm in the Chicago area and I need some one who can make this mold for me. It's based on ICS Xenarc mounting shroud. Here are some pics of the mold I made of cardboard and black tape.

You could also draw it and have it made with Rapid Prototyping machine.

When in doubt, moo at things.
oekundar, it's covered in masking tape and though I've never tried, Ive heard Resin dosen't penatrate masking tape

It doesnt really penetrate masking tape, thats why we use it as a prepping over stuff when we fiberglass within the car..
But what you could do is to lay 1 layer of fiberglass on top, and see if that is strong enough for your needs?

Building a mold for a plastic injection machine is pretty expensive. Like many thousands of dollars.
I worked in an injection molding shop in HS.
And I've worked as a machinist for a foundry tooling company. We made semi-permanent molds for aluminum parts (heads, engine blocks, wheels, etc.).
So, I have some idea of what it takes.
Um, yeah. Injection molding is not for just plain folks. You are talking $30,000 - $100,000 for a mold for that thing.
I am a newbie trying to outfit a couple cars with new custom consoles and mini ITX. Click here for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche project.
Jadz, Thanks that's a pretty good idea, I'd build this one up but it not semetrical and I'm a semetrist, everything doesnt have to be perfect, but everything has to be even.

I dont think you will find an injestion molder willing to do this for you, even if you bought the molds. It is not just buying the molds, it will take a little R&D to make it work as well. I work in a plastics factory and to just make one peice, it would be a pretty astronomical price. The factory I work at will not accept an order of less than 100,000 pieces. It takes a lot of work and time to setup research and design a part to make a molded part.
To even ask a question like this is a little ridiculous.
FIBERGLASS is you key. what you can do is make a wire mesh duplicate of this, then use the fiberglass fabric kits you can get at any walmart. Lay this over the wire mesh let it dry and walla, a nice strong part. To re-work the part will be worth it in the end. Be patient with your project and it should all be good....![]()
