BTW, I'm not that familiar with american standards and if an inch has 2.54 cm, how many cm do 3/16" mean? Or better yet, how do you actually read the "/"?
Altimat, how far back is the screen?
The "/" is read as the division symbol. Therefore 3/16 = 0.1875. You would either state this as 0.1875 inches or three-sixteenths of an inch.Originally Posted by Cris
To get the measurement in cm use the conversion factor: 2.54cm = 1in. Take the inch measurement (decimal format) and multiply it by 2.54. In this case: .1875 x 2.54 = 0.47625cm.
Google also has a built-in calculator for this kind of stuff. Just type it in the proper format (0.1875in to cm) and it will give you the conversion.
Altimat, did you hot glue the screen after you bondoed everything, of before? I'm asking 'cause I see you didn't bondo the screen, but just the 2 small holes.
Where exactly did you mount the IR receiver from the remote?
I don't have room in my dash for that button board, and I don't know where to put the IR receiver...can you give me more details on that please!![]()

Yes inside radiuses are the worst to finish, so you want the screen bezel to fit the recess perfectly and everything smooth first. Then epoxy it in. Finally, add the inside radius with filler or epoxy. I use the round end of a cable tie to spread the smooth radius.Originally Posted by Cris
The IR receiver can go anywhere you are able to drill a small hole. Bevel it on both sides, and grind the plastic thinner in the area where the eye goes to get it as flush as possible.
Fabricator
hey altimat, first of all i admire your work and I have been following your posts on the forum unregistered for quite a while now untill i seen this. This has got to be the best monitor install on the forum yet to date. i myself just bought a 2005 altima 2.5S and it has the extra glove compartment above the radio. I just was wondering that when i buy my liliput monitor should i buy an extra empty bezel to place it in like the altimas that come with navigation or is it possible to just modify the one i already have? if so what could you advise me in hooking up my first carpc. thanks for everything and two thumbs up for your work and dedication to the forums.
