No...not a member of DakUSA. I'm in Palestine....went to A&M for a year in 91. As far as the button holes I never filled them in. If I got bondo or spot filler in them I sanded it out with my dremel.

I still haven't figured out exactly what I want to do with the AC and seat heater controls. I think I will just install it this weekend and let them hang out the bottom. I want to see it installed.

    Wolfman...
when you removed your bezel, behind the HVAC controls there is a hard plastic shield that doesn't allow you to freely access the open area behind the HVAC and storage bin like you can behind the factory radio location...

well... my question is.. what is behind this plastic shield?

I ask because I want to remove it/cut it out so I can relocated my radio to HVAC control area, install monitor in Radio area, and move HVAC controls to storage bin area.

    Any ideas?

I don't know what is behind there. I had plenty of room for the lilliput so I didn't have to mess with it.

Wolfman, great looking dash so far. I'm still in the planing stage for the final placement of my LCD and DVD.

    Here's my RAM's project:
    Dodge Ram PC build

How do you like your placement as far as visability, recessed amount, angle and glare is concerned? I assume by one of your photos that the A/C controls are going to be mounted next to the ashtray on the lower part of the dash? Any details on that? Did you have the 4x4 switch and seat heater panel to relocate? I don't know where I'm going to put it all! I'm good with computers and electronics work but haven't done anything like this. Most people seem to say that It's a lot easier then they thought once over their fear of hacking up their new dash! Lots of great info on this site to help though. Again, nice dash!

strohmrs, glad to see 'nother ram owner getting involved.

I am contemplating the same matters with my truck. Right now my 7" lilli is installed on a custom ball-socket mount in the "blank-spot" (same location as cig lighter but passenger side) on the right of the media console, but I want to put it "in-dash". I am also planning on installing my slot-load DVD "in-dash" as well. Ideally I can "fit" the LCD in the radio location. As for the radio... I want to move the HVAC controls down to the storage bin and 4x4 auto selector knob location. Before I can do this... I have to figure out what's behind the plastic sheild (inside our dash) behind the HVAC control panel?? I want to relocate my current head unit to this location, but do so means I will need to remove or cut a hole on this plastic sheild inside. Don't want to do that until I know what is back there.

For the 4x4 drive selector, I intend to relocate it to the current cig lighter location, and move the cig lighter to same location on the passenger side (the "blank-spot" where my LCD is current located).

good luck and keep us updated on your progress!

Did you use you oem bezel, or did you buy a second one? Stealership wants $290.00 for one. I have been looking on ebay with no luck. Haven't been to a junk yard since I was a kid. Maybe its time to go back.

Thanks for all of your pictures and posts, they have helped a lot with my project.

I bought my extra bezel on ebay for $25. Got lucky I guess. I didn't want to destroy the woodgrain bezel. The glare and angle aren't that bad. I don't have any tint on my side windows. That will be the next thing and I think it will be a lot better. I haven't had the time to work on the AC controls and seat heaters (mine is 2 wheel drive so no 4x4 button). I have made a fiberglass copy on the cup holder beacuse it is removeable. That area is not quite wide enough for the controls. I have also started a center console but I don't know if I will like that either. My current idea is to figure out a way to make a fiberglass mold of the ashtray and cup holder ang put the controls in the center below the screen. I do not want to cut anything in my truck. In its present state I could pull everything out and be back to stock in 10 minutes. I think that putting a screen where the factory radio would be easier to reach but I think the glare would be worse. It would also attract more attention, especiallly at night.

$25, Wow! I bet a junk yard won't even be close to that cheap. I thought about tinting the side windows as well. For now I just removed the Lilliputs touchscreen to make it a little bit brighter and to reduce the glare and frosted look the panel was causing. Didn't care too much for the way it was working and am using a touchpad instead. Came out very easily and can be replaced quickly if needed later.

I also want the truck to be able to be "restored" to original easily. For a bezel to work with, I've seen replacement "stick-on" type bezels but of course with the factory openings. Maybe I could just use one of those as a base, cut out my own openings and build everything up front and back with kitty hair, fiberglass, bondo and what not to proper thickness to replace the original woodgrain piece? Any Ideas on the best way to approach this as I've never done anything like this before? I plan on leaving the radio where it is with the screen below that. Still not sure about placement of 1. DVD slot drive, 2. A/C controls and 3. 4x4/seat heater switches. Each of those modules I need to leave intact. The ashtray and storage bin can be removed for something. To complicate things more, I have the 6-speed manual so I'll have to plan the layout so that none of the controls are greatly obstructed by it. May have to see if any of the controls can be relocated as far as the floor console surrounding the shifter. Extending the wiring harness isn't a problem.
