To Glass or not to glass that is my question

Well I would love to cram a monitor into my dash but anything more then 4.5 Inchs would require me to relocate all the heater and AC controlls down into the pocket near the Asso plug . I am man enough to admit that is more custom fiberglass work then I am able to do.

I am considering a Xenarc in a housing from digitalww.com price is a bit steep but its cheaper then having the local 70Buck an hour Stereo Shop do the work for me,, (lowest cost I have gotten to fiberglass in a 7' monitor was 4 weeks and about 500 bucks.

I have the room for an 8 inch if I could get the controls moved or find one in a din style housing. (current raidio is 8 3/4 inch wide.

So now that I am done rambleing my questions are as follows

How stable is the Xenarc in the din housing ?? Looks to me like the whole monitor might break off if you hit a bump.

Should I just bite the bullet and get a monitor built into the dash (could get a 8" that way)

Or should I keep my Empeg and hang a 8' drop down between the front sun visors ?

I can speak for the digitalww din housings and say that they are built tough. The craftsmanship is excellent. I'm going in-dash with my Xenarc, but my coworker bought the digitalww unit.

As far as telling you what to do:
    In-Dash:
Pros: OEM look, wows your friends, improves car value a bit
Cons: Much more difficult to do, requires some fiberglass skills, patience

    Digitalww:
Pros: Looks pretty good, built well. Fits in a standard DIN (no dash hacking)
Cons: Sticks out, may cover controls, can be more expensive.

    Dropdown from ceiling:
Pros: Looks cool, rear seats can see it
Cons: Cops can spot it, may be more expensive, may look out of place, trickier to wire up

You can decide what you like the most and go for it. As always, be sure to take pictures so others can learn/benefit.
