Woooooooooooooooooow. Very nice work dude. One of the best so far... Congratulations !
A slight suggestion, if I may: why didn't you mold you dvd unit as well. I haven't seen it done before, but I think it would look more OEM...

Didn't really think of molding it in, but that would have been a good idea. However, I did luck out and the face and paint are almost an exact match so you don't really even notice it's there. Also the dvd-rom just quit working so right now I'm glad I didn't mold it in because it's going to be a lot easier to replace.Originally Posted by Cris

Yeah, but I meant just the front part of the unit. That would stay, and only the rest would be replaced...
OEM is right man! Wow, that is nice... I'll be using this as a guide for mine. Thanks
Wow! very nice. How'd you make the holes for the xenarc buttons?
I only had the pantyhose/resin layer over the button holes. Once I had strengthed the whole piece with fiberglass to handle it, I went to work on the holes. The very thin layer covering them was easy to cut out with an x-acto blade. I also have a very small file set that I used to get the holes exact. The small file set also helped with doing the bevel around the screen.

Well, just realised I never posted my finished product all snapped together in the car. (The glovebox closes just fine, just can't show off the computer then.)
Those weaksauce wooden supports in the earlier pictures snapped on install. Did a ghetto job of superglueing some sheet metal bits to the back and it holds well. Not 100% perfect, but it's doing the job well.
It's in this car BTW:
and some of you will know the engine

So did you use the original xnarc front bezel in there and just had it covered by the pantyhose until you got it built up?
