Nice work! You advanced to the red spot putty way too soon though. That stuff is really only suited for filling the very smallest of imperfections because it shrinks like crazy especially when you apply primer/paint over it. Get some of this stuff. Block that red putty and reinforced filler down a ways, and bury it all with a thin smooth layer of the Evercoat and your finished product will be much nicer.

yeah truthfully I'm not so much worried about the final product this time, this is only going to be the prototype, but I do want it to look decent. I'm already in plans for v2. I want to get this all up and running first, and then I'll be doing it all over again a few months down the line.

Again, picture name is basic description. Next up is filling the holes that were created by cutting away at the fiberglass to close the glove box and bolting the knee bolster back on. It's getting closer.

    Hey Meissenation,

Did you swipe that console out of a newer Camaro or a Firebird??

BTW, I love what you've done with the RED

I got mine from a 00 Camaro, but if I'm not mistaken I believe the Firebird and Camaro center consoles can be switched back and forth. Only thing I had to do to customize mine was to drill a hole in a metal bracket behind the stick shift for a stabilizing peg to go into (although you could just chop it off too, it just limits the movement of the console..)

Thanks, I'm actually trying to figure out if I want to paint the center of the new bezel red and the rest black to match the theme or do it all in black. Not sure yet.

A secondary project of this was to move the CD player into the glove box, and then make an extension cable so I could mount the face plate into my sunvisor. Well, we finally got the faceplate's extension wired and soldered and ready to go, the attached pictures are of the mockup.

I will second that statement, just keep it in mind when do it next time!

    Looks good!

Always like to see people put a little more effort into these things than just screwing the screen to teh dash...hehe

Really nice job, will match the dash well when it's finished.

What will you cover it with, paint or a cloth of some kind?

Well the radio bezel has been on hold for a bit so I can work on the radio's faceplate extension, I finished that this morning. Now I have some computer work to do installing drivers and software, and then finishing the bezel and I'll be set. I plan to just paint the bezel, nothing fancy. This is just the "get it working" version. If it works out well, I'll go all out for the next version.
