I guess you aint safe leaving your car anywhere these days.
I meant, if one is to replace his car...
I still think that the bimmer vents would look the best. For a stealth install, you could, keep the existing vents working, and mount the screen under the bimmer vent. You said you like it to be pimp, so you could have the vent motorized, to lift and show the screen. Sorry if I went a little of topic there. Your topic, your rules...

i think we all went a little off topic! oh well - its all fun!
Got to go to westlands next week - maybe i should get me one of their Apache eye-piece displays and do away with a screen! Think i would look a bit silly driving round in a helmet!

Motorised vents! lol i'd get in my car and there would be a load of motors moving stuff around my cabin. A fold out steering wheel would be fun - that would confuse people and be more practical than a removable one. Do you know anyone who had a removable wheel and had it pinched so they couldnt drive home? I have heard of some kids driving a car with no steering wheel using 2 pairs of mole grips on the boss!

Well, how can I say this, I really was serious. I mean, why not have a motorized vent. It would only be to hide your LCD...Trust me, it'll be unique.

I like the motorised vent idea

sounds great u could also have it slide upwards instead of opening to.

Or u could have the LCD on all the time and have a picture of some vents on the screen so nobody notices

Yeah i know you are serious about the vents. Its a bloody good idea and i can picture it working. I just thought of a cool idea for a mini with the screen in that round clock housing - you could make an iris style cover that has a clock painted on it and then opens like a camera lens. Anyway, back to reality....need to rememeber K.I.S.S - mving parts normally means problems. I quite like my original idea of having buttons next to my screen so people can still control the music etc while the GPS is running full screen and have buttons for GPS, phone, rear view, music etc so you don't have to go to the menu all the time. Has anyone made any buttons for their dash yet?

I like the buttons ideea. Even the most OEM installs around here, don't exactly looks stok, because stock means many buttons as well. You could do control them via the joystick port.

Just gonna use a gutted gamepad. Got one with a load of buttons and analogue - hopefully i can mount one of the analogues by my steering wheel to act as a mouse in case i ever need finer control than the touchscreen. Could mount the other on my gear knob to contol one of thos movable webcams or a machine gun to take out cyclists!!!!! hehe

Oh yeah, planning on using the windows HID plugin for girder
