    Redid my Lilliput bezel ....

Well since everyone around here has to do such nice work and makes their monitor installs look like the were installed at the factory I've decided to redo mine.

Here it is in its current form:

I'm going to fill in around the bezel to make it flush and look like a single piece.

Here is the bezel after I epoxied it into the new piece:

Here is the bezel after body filler, sanding and primer:

    Installed:

    Nice work!

Did you just trace the lilli face on the (mdf?) and then cut?

What did you use to cut?

    No body filler in there?

Sorry so many questions, this is just exactly what I plan to do.

Just traced the outline onto a piece of 1/4" MDF. I cut this out with a scroll saw-lucky for me my dad has a kick *** wood shop. I'm sure you could do it with a coping saw. Had to do a little sanding to the MDF to get the Lilliput bezel to fit. Then I expoxied the bezel to the MDF. Then I went around the edge of the bezel with body filler. Then the usual sanding, sanding and sanding ... Laid down a couple of coats of primer and then back to sanding, sanding and sanding ... Laid down some more primer and was satisfied. Lightly sanded with some 2000 grit to smooth out the primer. Then sprayed out with a few coats of gloss black. That's pretty much it.

Thanks it's great to get a compliment from the guy whose install inspired me to take mine up a notch. It's been pretty easy so far, but I'm a little nervous about opening up the monitor to mount it onto this bezel-I bought an extra bezel from Armen for this project. Keeping my fingers crossed I can swap over the guts without too many problems.

    looks pretty slick!

Have any pics of it back in the vehicle?

Looks like you have a nice location to put it in from the factory, that always helps!

Have a friend who has a C3 Sierra (same dash) molded his screen up top and put the rest down there where you have your screen...pretty slick

I haven't put the screen in the truck yet-still waiting for the paint to completely harden up before I start messing around. The layout of the dash makes the installation pretty easy in this location-I think that the screen would be easier to use in the top location, but install would have been harder. I've got a buddy with a C3 that installed a flip out dvd player/monitor where the factory cd changer goes and it looked pretty sweet.

Well I got everything put back together and back in the truck. I was very happy when I plugged the monitor back in and had a picture and working touchscreen first boot. That touchscreen cable is a pain in the *** to get hooked back up. I took some pictures last night in the garage, but they really didn't turn out very well.
Here is the best one that I have:

Thanks, I'm happy with how it turned out and how easy it was to do. Hopefully I can get a decent picture taken because it looks much better in person than the above picture.
