I have mine under the passenger seat, I don't have kid so spilling is not much of a problem, But I don't take that for granted.
You should worry more about them kicking the case instead of spilling.

    Awesome setup

This is similar to what i want to do with my 04 Saturn Vue. one thing that id like to do a little different is have the dvd drive somewhere in the dash so its easier to access.

however one problem ive been having is the dvd skipping when driving. do you have any suggestions? right now i just have the case sitting on the seat next to me so im wondering if maybe mounting everything in the dash will help. i am using a slimline dvd-rom in my setup.

one other question i have is concerning your gps reciever. does it still get pretty good signal being tucked away inside your dash? do you know of anyone that has done the same thing with a different receiver and how well it worked?

any info would be great! and once again, awesome setup and great job on the fabrication!!!!

I use standard 5.25" DVD ROM and has no problem with skipping on normal road (but not pothole).
GPS signal is really good. The location is where the factory GPS receiver locate.

Did you have to cut the back of the LCD screen case? Do you have pictures of how much you had to cut down and did you just use a hack saw to cut it?

Also, when you are sanding do you use one of those rubber sanding blocks to get an even sanding surface?
