Best way to make a 'flip up' monitor?

hd, how are finding that epox mobo? is it a mATX and does it have full multiplier and FSB support?

Here are some pics of where the screen has to go...i think i have to make a new housing for my lilliput a smaller one. maybe i will put the screen at the back and make it flip up (so screen facing down) as it will be hard to make a nice cover in this small space..

and scouse if you;re gonna get some servo's get some for me, i see you live in the uk, i've got family there so you could send them to there

Now on topic, how about 1. Screen face down 2. slide out. 3. Flip up. or is this too much like the motorized in dash issue? Make a little enclosure and be done with it! Liek it's really that easy! Good Luck!

The face down slide out is a bit tricky as you ahve to make rails etc whch is why i was keeping away from it. I am making rails but it is going inside the dash and this is easier to do.

I didnt realise the space was so small! it's tiny. Well thats corsas for you!

The best way i would say would be to take those dash vents out to get some extra room then either do a pod enclosue or make the flip up. I would go with the pod. You should be able to fir the vents back after.

well my lilliput died this evening

so till i hear from my supplier its a no go for this project because if i cant get it on warantee then i afraid i don't have the funds for a new one.

i'll still be interested in this project as i will get e new screen eventually (addicted to carputers :P)

That was me! It's easier than it sounds. You get a mini-ssc servo controller and it hooks up to the serial port. You can write a VB program to open an close it. And yes, it still works. I just switched it over to a Xenarc screen.

I'll probably switch over to a basic STAMP circuit eventually, so I can rig a push button to open and close it regardless of whether the PC is on or not.

Could the servo be controlled without the pc or stamp, I like the idea of using simple circuit build around the 555ic .

Bugbyte: you might be able to help me.....

I am have designed a motorized slide out mechanism for a linITX screen using 4 servos (2 to control slide out - one left one right so they can be used to control yaw and 2 for the tilt for uber tilt power!)

What i want to do is have a switch for auto so when the doors unlock the screen comes out and then when the doors lock the screen goes in (unless the ign is on) - i have no probs doing this but i do have issues with my control circuit design:

At the moment my design uses a few 555 circuits and microswitches to switch the postion potentiometers (which can be adjusted to change the tilt and yaw) however i would like to build a nice control circuit and wondered if the stamp you used can be programmed to activate servos in sequence eithe rby sensing when they are at the desired position or using microswitches to change to the next part of the sequence.

Unfortunately, I'm just now working on the STAMP. And I mean, I've JUST gotten my feet wet with it, but from what I can tell, it will do what you are asking for.

The mini-ssc will also do it, but the "brains" are the PC. Therefore, the PC has to be on for them to work properly. The mini-ssc easily and accurately controls up to 8 servos from position 0-254. No need for limit switches or timers. The code is all in the VB program or whatever you want to use to access the serial port. I have tagged a Windows shortcut to a "ScreenOpen.exe" program and when I hit Alt-Ctrl-O, the screen opens, Alt-Ctrl-C closes it.

But I'd like to open and close it without using the computer and hence the use of the STAMP. I write the program once, send it to the STAMP via serial cable, detach serial cable and it works on its own. I can trigger it by pushing a momentary contact button. If it's open, it closes. If it's closed, it opens.
