Don't blame you though! can't wait to see what he does with it.
OK, it looks like a change of plan.
A guy in manchester who has done custom dash's which have been at shows and in magazines has offered to do mine for me, and is confident he can get it exactly how I want it..
So I've stripped the lilliput down..

and sent that along with the dash fascia panel to him

He's going to take pics of the process and I'll post them here along with his contact details and the finished result.

Steve,
A mate of mine drives a ST 170 and i have changed his mind on buying a Pioneer Avic1 nav system to a Car PC, however he does not want me touching his dash to install the screen like yours, can you let us know if you chap would consider doing the same for some sort of cost etc.
Cheers

OK pop me an email to steve@goodman.net and when I get it back I'll email some photos to you and the guy who's done it's contact details so your mate can make his mind up - I myself don't know what it will look like yet!Originally Posted by eazyrog

Right... The fascia panel has been with the guy now a few days and I've had a few pictures back.
This was the first picture he sent...

The above is after doing the required filling, not the finished item.
The one I've just got today...

As you can see he's started spraying it and it's looking great! The guy is Chris Roberts (demoncartech@hotmail.com) - MC Stu has been to see him and actually seen mine in progress and says it looks even better in the flesh!
I can't wait!

Right!!!
Saturday missioned up the M6 toll then the M6 from Nuneaton to Stockport to pick up the screen! And it was worth the wait! Here's some pics I took when I got it home...
and today while I was waiting for Sunday lunch to cook I did a test fit to check it all fitted properly, which was actually the first time the original facia had been off...
Off it comes...
And above you'll see the test fit - the heater controls etc aren't screwed in as I just wanted to see what it looks like.
Massive size versions by clicking on the pictures here... http://www.stevieg.org/carpc/install/building/v4.html
Once I've sorted the boot install, It'll be sorted proper in the next few weeks.

Nice to be able to show them that things have moved on, and it is a lot closer to the BMW integrated screen that they compared you to though, instead of being on a stand on the dash as it was. All you would need to do is include a Griffen twiddler thing, and mapped to scroll through the centrafuse options, and touch screen menus, and you could take on iDrive easily.
