FISH TANK!!!![]()
i had my uncle make up this for me, see attached (i dont know how to put them in a post - please help!)
i told him i had to be able to put stuff in there and sleep on it if i need to, which made it kind of high (2x6's)...
its very sturdy...
we are going to carpet it grey, and we need help on ideas for cool stuff to do...
inside will go carputer, dssc, inverter, ampx2, xbox soon.
Proposed ideas:
1. cut into 4's, 3 will be electronics, 1 will be storage. Top will be hinged, and a door will be over the storage area
2. 10 or 12" sub in the box, only problem - cargo liner! i need to protect that, and the sound would be muffled
any other thoughts???

you need to vent it - use baffled vents and mesh to stop things falling in and shorting out your PC.
the thing is closed dude, nothings gonna fall in...Originally Posted by Scouse Monkey
vent it why? heat?
i may put a fan in the front then in the pc section, like a case fan or 2

If you make the top out of a piece of ply, jigsawed to the exact size of the space. Cover it in carpet, a casual observer will think its the floor of the boot instead of an intresting box that may have something valuable in. But it is a bit big for something you want not noticed.

Not bad. Just a thought though... You could use that as a good mold to make the same thing out of fiberglass and save alot in weight.

what i want to know is if i can make a custom sub enclosure that will fit in those gaps in the back by the tailgate, i want them to face the driver and kinda fit to the curved rear of the truck.... thoughts on that?

It will if you put vents in!Originally Posted by nsmoller
Why else would you add a fan????? If you just put a fan in there with no vents you wll just be moving the hot air around. You are gonna have a PC with PSU and HDD, 2 amps and an xbox - it is gonna get a lil warm and if its quite low then there will be no room for the hot air to rise away and cool. I would think about some vents aroudn the edges maybe with fans to blow out and somewhere far away and on the other side of the PC to allow cooler air to be drawn in.Originally Posted by nsmoller
you may not get overheating as such but the constant higher than normal temps will probably reduce the life of your components.
