Thread: fiber glass box thickness

ok well, i dont remember if thats mdf or particle board now haha. but ill put a layer of resin. how can i tell if its mdf or particle? lol

Well i Stood on it and it held it didint make a sound at all im thinking the thinist point is about 1/4" now

curiosity...are u against getting nylon roap and cutting it to fit in the box, soaking it in resin and the glassing it to the inside of the box? it works great for strengthening just like using ribbing in anything else greatly strengthens the structure...

check out Harry's Audi..he did something very similar and his car is considered to be one of the best sounding cars on IASCA the circuit...depending the cutoff frequency and dispersion pattern of the tweeters this can and has worked very well ....

it doesnt matter which one u use to be honest....there are reasons why u would want to use one type of wood over another but for your application it doesnt matter one bit audio wise, especially since u have bonded glass to the wood...if u can stand on it i believe your safe .....one infinity driver isnt going to blow up any decent enclosure...actually i dont think it would blow anything that can support it's weight..the compression just isn't enough IMO....i would reinforce the corners or seems as thats where u might have issues as the enclosure ages...using any type of wood glue makes this moot tho especially since u dont have something like a W7 in there...if u have never tried to break two properly glued wood joints i suggest u try it...the joint is stronger than the wood...

yea i put liquid nails on all the seems. I definatly know its safe, i was punding the sub hard even before i put the additional kitty hair on. but i want to push the system hard. I got a 3 yr warantee that if i blow the sub up they will give me a new one.

i think your good...enclosure looks great BTW...

Well i got the sub mounted to test it agian and it sounds so much better.
I got one more question how much did it cost to get yours covered in vynal?
and is it just the top or is it on the sides and stuff?
