Sorry, I never have seen an R32 inside before. You guys were talking about getting black ones or something to make them look more stock, so I assumed plastic.

The mold I was talking about would be pretty basic, just have a top and a bottom to it. Like I said, it might not be possible, but it doesnt seem too hard.

Also, did you consider of making them out of a different material? Like maybe a block of some other material would be cheaper, quicker (as in the CNC machines could cut them faster), easier on the machines (keep that carbide nice and sharp, itll make the shop happy), and all that good stuff. Or if you made the mold like I said above, you could just mix up fiberglass resin and pour it in. Just trying to give you some ideas to help cut cost.

How are R32 bezels not plastic? Seemed like plastic to me when I drove my soldering iron through it to make a hole =D

The one I was looking at had aluminum, you sure you were not driving an R32 version of Jetta? The one that has 6-wheel drive and a rocket engine?
I have found you an argument; I am not obliged to find you an understanding.

    You mean a GLI?
Aluminum dash kits are an option on all VW's they just need a different radio cage. BTW a plastic mold will run you about $15,000 for a job like this.

No no, i didn't mean a GLI, I meant precisely what I said
And I was under impression that R32 was a kind of car to have too many options. Well, I think the R32 owner here should correct our misconceptions. Eventually.

    R32-

Don't know if this has been mentioned in this post, but I was wondering how the faceplate attaches to the dash, are there clips or what? I have a MK3 so this faceplate wont work for me, but I am molding my own and have no idea how I should attach it to my dash.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll check it out. I've already invested a good bit of money for the drawings with the machine shop, though...

The faceplate is using the Mapower enclosure for the primary means of fastening. The faceplate mounts to the enclosure then the enclosure is secured to the radio bucket. Once the faceplate is complete, if there is additional need for support at the top, that will be facilitated with screws-on clips.

I can do it... I will simply have the same request as I had for the Golf/Jetta - a donor radio bucket and a dash - so I know everything fits and have the measurements/specs.
My first attempt at a carputer.

PM me if you're interested in a monitor faceplate for your '99-'04 Golf or Jetta. My Vortex ID is NorthAtlR32 - you can IM me there, too. Go here for more information.
