That's the thing gerard, they're not making much money off of me until they make the final piece. So far, I've paid them $100 to do the drawings - $1800 less than the last shop wanted. If I had 12 orders pre-paid for $300 each, then I could probably have these done in a few days. But from what I've seen, this "back-burner" treatment is the norm for those who aren't coming to the table with a wad of cash laid out. Unfortunately, it all goes back to:

    Fast - Good - Cheap
You only get to select two.

couldn't you ask for, say a 10-50% deposit on the product, and then hand that over. that way everyone should be able to get them quicker even if only 10 or so put down initially

also the only thing i'm worried about with this, is returning the car to standard for selling.
with the cupholders seemingly irreversibly removed has anyone got any ideas?

The finer point is that the rush order process will cost considerably more. So it doesn't matter how much money is put down, the cost of each piece triples.

And for what it's worth, simply replacing the radio bucket will have you able to return the car to stock for around $80.

    If murder was legal...

So it's just like I believed - my business doesn't mean much to the machine shop because I'm not going to make them rich. They finally said it yesterday! "James, (yes, we are on a first-name basis) we're pursuing projects that pay tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars - even millions. So your faceplate just keeps getting pushed aside." And my personal favorite, "If I could clone myself, I could get ahead." I love it when clueless, stupid ******* people say **** like that! They'll close for four-day weekends so the owner can enter shooting/rifle competitions and somehow a clone would improve things?!?!?

So here's what I'm considering. I'll go get my drawings back. In my free time (what a ******* joke that is!) I'll make another faceplate out of acrylic. I have found a hobbyist machinist who will help me out and keep the per-unit cost down. He can use my model to build by.

Another option includes learning the software that exists for some of the online machine shops and rendering it myself in my free time.

Another option is the carbon fiber route, but that would make it difficult to get an aluminum appearance for the .:R and 337 crowd.

If any of the offers to put this in AutoCAD still exist, then that might be another option, as well.

All the options suck, cuz it means I'm starting over! I've calmed down overnight, but I'm still ****ed! After reviewing all the posts in this thread, I can count the dozens of lies I was told. How these people can win a million dollar contract when they can't handle something THIS simple is just mind-boggling!!!!!!!!
